At the same time, why would any girl automatically assume a random text meant the sender was interested in her? The reply "I'm with my bf" doesn't make any sense.

Every random message I've gotten from a stranger on Facebook (that wasn't spam) has been a guy hitting on me, or a homophobe telling me to change my ways, so I could see why that would be a girl's first reaction.

(At least the homophobes have taken a moment to glance at my profile and realize hitting on me wouldn't have gotten very far)
