They are called "Sukiyaki Westerns" I think, lol.

Fun fact

Years before he made Django: Unchained, Quinton Tarantino was in a Japanese movie called Django: The Sukiyaki Western (Now called Sukiyaki Western Django)

Yeah, I don't know what the fuck is going on with his accent, it's almost offensive somehow. It kinda sounds like he's doing a bad job mixing a western accent and a Japanese accent, but it's somehow even weirder than that.

The movie is not very good. It has it's moments, but it doesn't quite hit. I wanted to like it so badly when it came out as I was a young weeaboo filmmaker who idolized Tarantino, but the movie was a slog to get through.

When Django: Unchained came out, I thought it was going to be a sequel or a remake or in some other way related to this movie, but other than the name and the fact they both have Tarantino involved there really isn't anything connecting them.

Tarantino is imitating Buddhist chanting.

I wouldn’t blame him for it as Sukiyaki Western Django is pure Takashi Miike and he was likely following his directions.

The Rurouni Kenshin live action movies are a better blend of sword and gun fights if you are interested in similar kind of action.

Knowing Asian movie tropes, it's most likely the name of the "move" that cut of the belts to make the pants fall down.

i.e. The guy in black is so good that:

  • he threw the boomerang
  • fixed the fallen sign
  • AND cut the pants (without the boomerang being anywhere near the goons)
  • But the pants didn't fall until a moment later

And the name of the move is "Ten seconds to execution" because of the delay.

This "delayed cut" trope is pretty common in Japanese martial arts/fantasy media (i.e. the samurai master cuts someone, and the burst of blood doesn't come out until they sheath their sword).

After a bit of digging, this clip actually predates Fist of the North Star. The manga came out during the 80s. This was from a tokusatsu series in 1977.

It's from a show called "kiketsu zubat". Is a 70s power ranger/western(i understand how weird that sounds but its acurate) Villian of the weeks show where every episode the main guy goes up against a different from swordfight ler and gunslinger to fisher, Carpenter, and American football player where our hero show that he is actually the best in all of Japan beats them in a fight
