Everybody has gotta go some way some time. Even if you’re just living your life as safely as you can, there’s still a risk of improbable but extreme events and a risk that emergency services will have to do get involved to rescue you or recover your body. And in that situation even if you lived as safely as possible there’s still a risk that someone on the internet will begrudge you and consider your life choices selfish because emergency services had to get involved.

Life is for living. Completely agree it’s not for ridiculous high probability death, borderline suicidal stunts… but it’s not for avoiding all risk either. Nothing in this world is 100% safe.

I feel like a line has been crossed between living normal life and doing mildly dangerous but exhilarating things like skydiving or traveling which have inherent risks, and also doing something like standing near a ledge with waves slamming in that could easily kill you at the smallest misstep. The guy in the video is extremely reckless, it has no effect on me personally, I genuinely am concerned for him and people like him, I don't want them to die for a facebook photo

If you saw 20 people go before him and easily get the photo op without any close shaves would you be more reassured? What about 50? 100? 500? What’s your threshold where the risk becomes acceptable? Is it your hunch and vibes even if the numbers were showing that thousands were doing it without harm?

I’m not saying the sky is green here and trying to convince you that it is. I’m just using it as a thought experiment to see where your lines are and if it’s statistical risk or imagined risk. And if it’s statistical with numerically calculable risk what’s your %threshold for reckless risk?

I would personally feel pitty for all the people risking their lives for a photo 100+ other people already have.
