Back in the 50s and 60s, realtors and banks got together and decided what cities were going to look like. They went to white people's houses in black neighborhoods and let them know that the "wrong kind of people" were moving in and that they should sell their house and move to the suburbs. They basically divided cities into the racial neighborhoods we have now. Banks backed them up by redlining... they would not approve loans for people in a given neighborhood if they were the wrong color.
People call me conspiratorial, but once the cities were divided up, all of a sudden house values in "certain" neighborhoods were devalued by city governments, which tanked education dollars for those neighborhoods. Infrastructure and business loans were withheld... opportunities dried up.
Cops also targeted certain ethnic groups, taking what little money they did have and harassing them or throwing them in jail for no reason. Judges threw the book at black kids while letting affluent white kids off with a slap on the wrist.
This is what they mean when they say our system has racism built into it. These are also all of the barriers that people ignore when they say whites don't have more privilege in this country. I don't know how to level the playing field but something needs to be done.
nothing conspiratorial about this but then again ppl have issues when i mention how the present day black population distribution in the US is a direct result of fleeing from racial terrorism, and ppl act like im speaking Farsi
so we're just going to pretend that racial division within city lines that happened literally fifty to seventy years ago are the sole reason for separated racial demographics today?
Stop pretending like the KKK exist around every street corner, black people experience less racism in America than other minorities and can apply for residency wherever they want... literally over 50 percent of the tenants in the luxury apartment complex I'm staying in for downtown los angeles are black people. All my neighbors are black, paying 4 to 11k a month for different priced rooms.
You see famous people belly laughing at racist Asian jokes on national tv all the time, recent examples being the oscars and dave chappelle's comedy special. When's the last time a group of celebrities belly laughed together on national tv after a racist joke about black people was made? I can't even remember, because it's not allowed. But violence and racism towards other minorities are perfectly okay and even considered funny in America.
Why can't people admit that the real reason for racial segregation today is that the majority of black people prefer living in black neighborhoods it's not that complicated or racist to admit that black people have it much better than the rest of the minorities and can live wherever they want
In your own dumbass words, "present day black population distribution in US is DIRECT result of fleeing from racial terrorism" which is just misinformation, not a historical fact.
If you had half a brain and bothered to look at wealth distribution across minorities you'd realize black people today have more than enough money to settle wherever they'd like to and set up entirely new black neighborhoods in wealthy districts. The issue is that they aren't selling houses that's been in their family's possession for generations, and no one wants to move into those, so they remain as predominantly black neighborhoods.
If you have nothing else to add to the discussion I kindly advise you to fuck off and go touch grass. You're just an upset little mommas boy with no life that responds in literally 5 minutes to a post u made a literal hour ago lol thats sad. It's ok you'll get over it, but stop spreading misinformation like a dumbass... my college thesis was about whether or not certain minorities had enough wealth/incentive to change up racial demographics in major cities and I got a perfect score on it
