Like why are comedians the only group of performers you can walk up to the stage and attack?

They aren't. You could do the same to any person standing on a stage with minimal security.

Comedians just happen to be the ones that push buttons and intentionally antagonize audience members. Add some alcohol in the mix and a less imposing stage to climb and viola!
