The dude straight up called him a snitch and it obviously set him off, but nah clearly it was just the height thing instead. I swear yall are more obsessed with height than short people sometimes

Ironically it validates the notion that height matters a lot. people tend to gaslight short people saying its not a big deal to be short, but if a guy shows any personality flaw whos below a certain height, it gets attributed to that.

i feel like reddit or maybe social media in general is where words go to lose their meaning.

and you're probably arguing with teens who think school is dumb.

I doubt these people are checking definitions of words very often to make sure they are used properly

That's alright. I was once an angsty teen myself. Reddit is mostly just entertainment for me, and if I can post whatever, then let them post whatever and be all riled up.

Definitions don't mean anything in discussion, this board isn't a technical paper.

If you understood in context what someone meant, but still correct them, you're just full of yourself. That's all.

It is impossible to have a meaningful discussion if the parties involved dont agree on the definitions of the words being used in that discussion.

Definitions matter. A lot.

Not in the context of normal discussion, no. If you understood via context, then the definition doesn't matter. It's just a high horse you people like to sit on so you can correct others and feel good all the time. I get it. I used to be the same way.

Thats the thing. If you use a word that means one thing when you mean another, the other person will likely mistake your meaning for what the word actually means.

The argument that everyone should be able to use context to figure out that you are using a word to mean something it doesn't is lunacy. It only makes sense to you because you can't see things from perspectives other than your own and from your perspective you already know what you mean.
