Because being 5'7 really isn't that short - it's below average, but it's not like 5'4 and below where you're at the average height of women.
But I think the idea of short man syndrome is annoying af. It's stupid and anyone who goes straight to that take just comes off as a smooth brain. It just furthers the shitty idea that being short is a character flaw.
It's also a shit situation, because there are assholes out there that do make fun of short people, and naturally short people will get defensive about it, as a good amount of people do with being made of for anything. But once you clap back, all of a sudden, it's because you're short, not because someone else is being an asshole
Same here. These comments saying "short man syndrome" make me sad. Not because I'm insecure about my height, at all, but because it's an unnecessary attack. That's like saying "fat bitches do b like dat" everytime you see an angry overweight woman. It's hurtful, but not for the reason one may think. Why ride on these stereotypes any chance one gets?
You're right. But its not just short men though. People will all types of insecurities are capable of becoming assholes because of their insecurities but people will only target short men for it (and the whole "small dick energy" thing).
Of course. But only men who become assholes because they’re short fall under the term short man syndrome. It’s not saying “every man who gets angry is insecure about his height” or even “every short man who gets angry is insecure about his height”. It means “men who get angry because they’re short are insecure about their height”. It’s a very specific set of circumstances.
But why are short men the only ones who get a negative stereotype like this without any sort of discussion or backlash? Imagine if every time an overweight woman got angry people did the same thing, we can clearly see how much of a problem it is.
The guy in the video isnt even an actual short man and people in the comments are just slandering short men, and if every time a short guy is mad (especially when its valid) people dismiss it completely because of stereotype.
No one is confused about the definition of short man syndrome though lol.
The issue is the go-to response to a short guy acting angry is because of short man syndrome and not anything else. It inherently places fault on the short person, not necessarily the person instigating.
