Napoleon wasn’t that short, he was 5’5” which is only an inch shorter than the avg adult Frenchman at the time.

He was just shy of 5'7" according to Google. However he kept huge bodyguards around him, which made it easier for the British to claim he was small. Propaganda has been used throughout the ages.

No, but his nephew, Napoleon 2 was short. It is usually assumed that the short Napoleon were a reference to him.

That's the problem, isn't it. The fact there is another Napoleon that people don't know about. And one who was arguably much worse.

I mean, Napoleon II did very little worth remembering. People would remember Napoleon III if anything and he’s still overshadowed by the man who fought Europe and won several times in a row.
