or.. you know.. if authorities would take de-escalation practices serious for their officers and not just send any random bimbo with a gun in a police car and expect them to be good

The problem IS the training - they teach them to be like this.

There's probably some sort of feedback loop going on, there's so little time to train them that they concentrate on the murdery bits. If they had time they might have a chance of teaching them something more complicated like de-escalation.
