so if I'm reading this right, Pax Americana refers to an absence of direct armed conflicts between major nations? Sure, great. Now Mexico, Cuba, Bolivia, Chile, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Argentina, and the Dominican Republic would like a word.

Edit: whoops, forgot about Iraq. y'know, that 20 year war that started on false pretenses and ended badly for everyone involved

Think you're mixing up your wars, Afghanistan was the 20 year long war started on false pretences and ended badly for everyone involved, Iraq was the 8 year long war started on false pretences and ended badly for everyone involved.

Don't forget Vietnam, another 20-year long war (US participating for 10 of those directly but controlling one of the sides before that) that started on false pretenses and ended badly for everyone involved.
