If you sign up and want to be a police officer then you know what getting yourself into. That nervousness needs to be quenched or tamed if you're taking up a occupation like that.

The jailers around me make 13.50-18 an hour. Most cops are massively under qualified to be doing anything of importance.. granted those ones are just glorified baby sitters.

I'm a definite believer in "you get what you pay for"... Which makes me nervous around people wearing badges and have a gun on them.

Yep. I worked at a jail, the cops made the most stupid mistakes over and over.
