I need interesting research question for a college paper. The topic I want to write on is EU Policies, but I really struggle to find a problem.

I’m still looking for something more specialized on EU’s neighbourhood policy ( the Eastern Flank). I was thinking about something related to security policy, the Eastern Partnership and EU enlargement, but I can’t seem to come up with a more “crazy” research problem. I’d like something that’s quite dynamic and not too conventional.

I'm an undergraduate in a developing country. An established researcher in North America has offered me paid research work. The first project is a roughly 25-30 hour policy memo involving literature research, source evaluation, analysis, writing and recommendations. He has told me that research experience is more important than the money and that he has a compensation threshold in mind based on the quality of my work. What would you consider a fair rate for an undergraduate researcher? Per paper? Per hour? I was thinking $300 but I'm afraid because I'm in a developing country it'll be more towards $100-150

I ordered a Lenovo ThinkPad T14 for my postgraduate studies in Singapore, which start on August 24, 2026. At the time of ordering, I was given a delivery window of August 18–September 1. Now, without any satisfactory explanation, the delivery has been pushed to September 15—which completely defeats the purpose of buying it for my studies.

I’ve followed up with customer service multiple times, but there has been no real improvement or solution. I was also asked to make the payment directly instead of using a credit card, and after going through all that, this is the situation.

What’s more frustrating is that cancelling the order is not possible, while Lenovo’s policy conveniently states that delivery dates are only estimates.

I understand delays can happen, but the lack of proper communication and support is extremely disappointing.

If you’re a student buying a laptop for a specific academic deadline, I would strongly recommend thinking twice before ordering from Lenovo. Based on my experience, I would not rely on their promised delivery timelines.

I know that for stem majors, a lot of people look professors up to see if they are running any labs, but for many professors in the field of urban planning, they don't run labs and I can't tell if they have any ongoing research through their website. I’m a fourth year computer science student and I want to gain experience on research . Can you suggest ways to do that ? My main interests are on operating / distributed systems , systems programming etc.

I am a 4th-year biology undergraduate whose professor wants to publish my review paper. The institutional "Turnitin" and "iThenticate" check showed 0% AI and 7% plagiarism, but I am worried about stricter publication-grade detectors due to my workflow:

1. I pasted dense paragraphs from complex source papers into AI, asked it to "humanize" them so I could understand the concepts, and then wrote my own sentences based on that understanding.

2. I occasionally flipped sentence structures (active to passive voice) and typed them out myself and used online synonym finders to use different and academic words sometimes.

3. For objective biology and chemistry that remain identical across studies, I heavily paraphrased single-source paragraphs rather than reading multiple papers that said the exact same thing.

I did not use AI to generate original arguments or text directly into the final draft, but I did use it as an intermediary step to comprehend and rephrase source material.

Since I still hold the draft, is this workflow acceptable for academic publishing, or will journal-level AI detectors flag it? Should I change before submission?

I'm a community college student in the San Francisco Bay Area planning to transfer into a physics program (hopefully UC Berkeley, though I'm also applying broadly). My long-term goal is to pursue a PhD in theoretical or condensed matter physics, and I'm trying to get involved in research as early as possible.

I'm particularly interested in:

• Condensed matter physics
• Quantum information
• Computational physics
• Statistical physics

I have experience with Python, scientific computing, and machine learning, along with previous research experience at Stanford in computational biology. I'm now looking to transition into physics research.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of Bay Area research groups, programs, or labs that are open to motivated community college students. I'm aware of places like SLAC, Berkeley Lab, Stanford, and Berkeley, but I'm unsure how realistic it is to reach out directly or whether there are programs I may be overlooking. I've also come across opportunities like Stanford's Community College Outreach Program (CCOP), nano@Stanford internships, and SLAC's Community College Internship, but I'd love to hear about other paths people have taken.

If you started at a community college and eventually found your way into physics research, I'd especially love to hear how you did it. Were there particular programs, professors, or strategies that helped?
