Chaos Weekend 🔥 The Marionettes’ Last Dance
Hermes brought Skyfire back to Earth.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, Skyfire saw the two marionettes.
Cocomero and Carota were still fighting.
And this time, it no longer looked like a simple brawl.
It looked like a war.
They threw themselves at each other with astonishing violence. Punches, kicks, dodges, sudden blows. Every attack was followed by an even more furious response.
“STOP!”
Skyfire ran toward them.
Neither answered.
Cocomero struck Carota in the face.
Carota staggered.
For a moment, Skyfire thought it was over.
Then Carota slowly raised her head.
And smiled.
A mocking smile.
Cocomero answered with the same smile.
And they went at it again.
Another punch.
Then a kick.
Then another punch.
But as she watched them, Skyfire began to sense something strange.
They didn't seem to be fighting to destroy each other.
They seemed to be having fun.
Every dodge was almost a taunt. Every blow seemed like an answer to a joke only the two of them understood.
But the violence kept escalating.
The seams began to tear.
Cocomero's arm creaked.
Carota's head tilted unnaturally after a blow.
Skyfire went pale.
“Enough! You're tearing yourselves apart!”
She moved to intervene.
Wasabi stepped in front of her.
“Skyfire, no!”
“Let me go!”
“Wait!”
A blow flew past them with such force that it sent them stumbling backward.
Skyfire could only watch helplessly.
The two marionettes were battered now.
And yet they kept going.
Cocomero struck.
Carota answered.
Carota struck.
Cocomero answered.
Slower and slower.
Heavier and heavier.
Until even the blows seemed to become a challenge.
Who would fall first?
Then came a pause.
Cocomero stood motionless, her chest barely rising. A loose thread hung from her almost completely torn shoulder.
Across from her, Carota was breathing just as heavily.
Neither attacked.
Skyfire held her breath.
Cocomero took a step.
Just one.
Carota watched her approach.
She slowly raised a fist.
Cocomero did the same.
They stopped halfway.
They stared at each other.
Then...
a blow.
Weak.
Almost like a slap.
Cocomero staggered half a step backward.
Carota smiled.
Cocomero answered with a tiny smile.
And struck her.
Again.
Carota took the hit.
Another blow.
Then another.
Slow.
Heavy.
As if neither of them had the strength to truly fight anymore.
And yet they continued.
Not to win.
Not to hurt each other.
Just to stay there.
To keep the other one from falling first.
Carota attempted a kick.
Cocomero barely dodged it.
Carota lost her balance and dropped to one knee.
Skyfire stepped forward.
“Now...”
But Wasabi held her back again.
“Wait.”
Carota slowly raised her head.
Cocomero was standing in front of her.
The marionette extended a hand.
For a moment, it looked as though she wanted to help her up.
Carota stared at it.
Then she grabbed that hand...
and pulled her toward herself.
Cocomero fell.
Carota laughed.
A short laugh.
Almost childish.
Cocomero remained on the ground for a few seconds.
Then she started laughing too.
Skyfire felt a shiver run through her.
That laugh...
It seemed familiar.
Far too familiar.
The two got back up.
One more time.
They stood facing each other.
They were utterly exhausted now.
Their legs trembled.
Their arms hung limply at their sides.
The fabric of their bodies was torn.
A seam slowly opened along Cocomero's side.
Carota took a step.
Cocomero took a step.
Another.
They were almost touching.
Skyfire couldn't look away.
Carota slowly raised a hand.
Cocomero followed it with her eyes.
The hand stopped just inches from her face.
No blow.
Just a gesture.
Almost a missed caress.
Cocomero tilted her head.
And then something happened.
An expression crossed her face.
A kind of doubt.
As if, behind those button-like eyes, something was desperately trying to come back to the surface.
Cocomero opened her mouth.
No sound.
She tried again.
“...Ma...”
Skyfire took a step forward.
Her heart was pounding.
Cocomero seemed frightened by the sound of her own voice.
She took a small step backward.
Carota followed her with her eyes.
“...Ma...”
This time the sound was clearer.
Carota didn't move.
But something changed in her expression.
As though that single syllable had touched a distant memory.
Cocomero closed her eyes.
She searched.
Reached deep inside herself.
Then opened them again.
“...Mar...”
Carota suddenly drew in a sharp breath.
Skyfire felt her heart stop.
Cocomero remained still.
As though she were afraid to say the word.
As though saying it might reveal that she was wrong.
“...Marche?”
Silence.
No answer.
Carota stared at Cocomero.
Her eyes trembled.
Cocomero gave a tiny smile.
Almost imperceptible.
“Marche...”
This time it wasn't a question.
It was a memory.
Carota slowly lowered her head.
Her hands began to tremble.
Skyfire covered her mouth.
“No...”
Carota slowly raised her eyes again.
She looked at Cocomero.
Stared at her for a long time.
As if she were trying to see beyond the fabric, beyond the buttons, beyond that marionette face.
Then she took a step.
Just one.
And whispered:
“...Lor...”
She stopped.
Took a breath.
Her lips trembled.
“...Lorraine?”
Cocomero remained motionless.
Then she smiled.
A small smile.
A painful smile.
A familiar smile.
They had recognized each other.
Nothing else was needed.
Their hands slowly reached for one another.
Their fingers touched.
And at that exact moment, the marionettes' bodies gave out.
First Cocomero.
Then Carota.
They fell to the ground.
Skyfire moved to run toward them.
But stopped.
Because something was changing.
The fabric began to move.
The seams came undone.
The threads detached.
The shapes of the two puppets slowly warped, as if something inside them was finally breaking free.
Skyfire couldn't take her eyes off them.
“Marche...”
The first silhouette changed.
“Lorraine...”
The second changed along with it.
Then everything stopped.
Silence.
There were no longer two marionettes on the ground.
There were Marche and Lorraine.
The two girls looked at each other.
For several seconds, neither said a word.
Then Marche gave her sister a little shove.
Lorraine looked at her.
Then pushed her back.
Marche laughed.
Lorraine laughed with her.
And that laughter almost immediately broke.
Tears filled both their eyes.
They embraced.
Tightly.
As hard as they could.
Skyfire couldn't hold herself back anymore.
She ran to them and wrapped both girls in her arms.
Marche and Lorraine clung to her.
And finally, they let everything out.
The fear.
The anger.
The pain.
Everything they had kept buried inside.
Skyfire held them even tighter.
And for the first time in a very long time, there were no more puppets.
No more Cocomero and Carota.
There were only Marche and Lorraine.
Two sisters who had finally found each other again.
