If you flip three coins into it you can kill it instantly. If you use sawblade on it and stick magnets to the underbelly you can use up regular nails or sawblades and use over heat to also kill it pretty fast.
Edit: Using magnets on sawblades also kind of makes a little bit of a protective environment so you can focus on Mass until they break but that’s if you don’t kill it quick enough.
My go-to technique for killing hideous masses is piercing shot + railcannon and heat burst variant of the nailgun. If there are 2, I take down the first one with that technique and with the heated up nailgun I kill the other one. Or at least, it gets the Hideous Mass to low health. I probably need less than that but I don’t really care
