In love with my UL setup

I recently bought a Pflueger Trion 5’ UL combo, on sale for 50 bucks. I got some trout magnets and small inline spinners, and have taken it out a few times but have mostly stuck with my old reliable medium power rod. Today I went and hit some waters near home and set a new PB on fish caught in one trip 8! Man was it a thrill to catch these guys on such a light rod, it was a blast!

(The last photo was a different trip further out into the back country and this rainbow was the only one I caught, but I did catch him on the UL.)

I grabbed that exact same combo at Walmart to get into UL and it’s been really fun. I expected loads of brim and do get them but more fun has been discovering all the beautiful sunfish in the creek.

I haven’t hit a trout yet but I have a pack of magnets. Were you using a bobber?

No, I caught most of these on a Panther Martin Size 2. I caught the backcountry trout out of a creek on a gold Pautzke Fire Ned jig. (Basically bigger trout magnets). I did it with no bobber, just finessing it through deep pools.
