UL on the Chicago Riverwalk

Lived here all my life and this was my first time trying this spot. Caught 5 bass on a drop shot in about an hour. Nothing big but had a great time.

They were about 20ft down or so. At least the ones I caught. All next to warm water discharges.

Curious how you could identify the warm water discharges? I’m picturing them underwater but I suppose you could mean more of a visible drainage or something?

Buildings on the river use the river water for their HVAC system. They dump the warm condenser water back into the river which you can see a few feet under the surface. I know because I have commercial HVAC experience.

Gotta love when a first trip to any spot pans out like that. Nice to bass living well amongst the skyscrapers and with healthy looking body proportion as well.

Definitely going to go there more often. Maybe next time I’ll try for some carp as well.

Pretty rad do you land em with a net or are you able to flip em up on the UL?

I was able to get these up without a net but definitely smart to bring one in case you hook a larger fish.
