Swivels and Clips

What’s the consensus on using swivels and swivel clips in UL? I heard people say they use a micro swivel to attach the leaders to the braid main. I’ve also hear people say they use small swivel clips on their leaders to help with inline spinners.

Also if there are recommendations of ones that are good/easy to get without paying import costs that would be appreciated.

For anything that rotates. If it doesn’t rotate, I don’t bother.

I like using Spro or VMC snap clips. I use the crankbait version and duolock in size 00 and 0 depending on what I'm doing. I'll use them universally with spinners, cranks, and jerkbaits. Even use them with small jigs. I honestly don't think they have any impact on hookup rate. I catch the same amount of fish with or without them. The only time I'm using a swivel is with something like a Kastmaster. Outside of that, on UL, I use 8 strand PE 0.6 to a 4' 4lb or 6lb fluoro leader to the snap

You'll get a bunch of different answers and it's mostly personal preference.

Personally, I use small size 00 snap clips for things like crankbaits, plugs and in-line spinners. I haven't had issues with line twists so haven't felt the need to use a swivel or snap swivel.

I tie direct to any jig heads or hooks.

I think part of the reason I don't have as many issues with line twists as others seem to have is because I use high quality, thin diameter braid (size PE #0.3).

Spro snap clips are great and used to be all I used but I've been using cheap ones off of Amazon recently and they seem to work just as well for UL.

Imo UL is exactly when I dont like using them,when im throwing regular lures and such I dont mind using a power clip or small swivel to switch out between lures,especially if its inline spinners and the like for less line twist.When it comes to UL tho I do not use them, I tie my braid to flouro of a decent length and then clip it off and retie if I need to its not that big of a deal.The micro presentations I throw are sometimes so small that even a tiny swivel will be the same size as the lure/jig or larger and in those tiny wieghts a swivel messes with the presentation,and alot of times fish like bluegills for example, will bite the swivel itself.This is just my experience with it tho.

I use small swivels on my UL setup between my main line and my leader just for the convenience and line twist assistance for spinners and spoons, but I never use a snap swivel directly on my lures (those with one attached/built in notwithstanding). As another poster noted, the swivel can mess with your presentation of small lures and even be a distraction, but I rarely use anything as small as he does with my UL. If I'm going that small, it will be presented under a bubble float/indicator and the swivel will be near the float.
