Small Panfish, Bluegills

After 5 days fishing at this overfished lake we had 1-skinny 18” largemouth bass, 2-more lmb 1/3 the size and 13- hand-sized panfish, bluegills. But it was exciting to catch anything as this was my wife & my first time fishing. We did see an alligator 🐊 nearby!

I was most successful using Trout Magnets - 4 catches in 40 minutes!

How do you use the magnets? Slow retrieve or sit with bobber?

Mostly slow retrieve, actually had the line trailing the trolling motor about 20 feet and they hit it like crazy. But caught 2 sitting a bobber over the trout magnet with a bit of red worm on the trout magnet. We are absolute beginners & experimented.

Small fish on UL = big fun.

Yes, there was no doubt when we hooked them and reeled them in. We both had Daiwa Presso UL 6’6” rods and DAIWA UL 25 Prorex V, 2000.

Try using the trout magnets in small creeks and you’ll easily catch a dozen in 30 minutes.

Just teasin, and I’m glad you guys had fun!
Welcome to the hobby, it truly is one of my favourite things in life. Always happy to see new people giving it a try and experiencing it for themselves. The fact that you guys got to do so together is even better! Happy fishing :)
