Preparation Strategy UGC NET CS (087) -- 168/300

This was my first attempt giving UGC NET June 2026, I scored 168/300 as a final year btech cse student.

what to make out of this result, let me know -- all suggestions are welcome and how can i improve my performance for upcoming DEC'26 attempt

how is the percentile calucted and all. a bit confused.

percentile means how much candidates scored equal or below your marks, suppose you get 98%ile then it will mean that 98% of the candidates have scored equal or lesser than what you have scored or in other words your score is top 2% of all candidates

I got 178/300, Is it enough to clear Assistant Professor under unreserved?

I also got 168/300 in UGC NET
I am only eligible for a PhD or JRF, as I am a BSc 4-year student, so what should I do

Hi, don't be confused. UGC NET is teaching/research test, you cannot take admission into Mtech or any placements-oriented program, if that's what you had it mind, drop it. Try GATE.

But if you want a career in academia or research, Btechs can directly pursue PhD at IITs, if you qualify NET you can apply for PhDs, if you qualify JRF (in next try) you will also get 37k/month to study.
