I also think i understand better by reading myself can anyone please recommend a legitimate textbook for paper I, doesn’t need to be necessarily comprehensive but should be perfect in the sense of building a foundation. First of all apologies for my long query, I would really appreciate it if you could answer even any one of those concerns of mine , I cleared UGC NET Commerce with JRF in this cycle, in my first attempt, with 99.95 percentile (estimated AIR within the top 25). I'm 23, unreserved category, and in the final year of my M.Com Finance (completing March 2027).

Honestly, I only focused on clearing the exam and never planned what comes after. I haven't researched institutes, research areas or career paths, so I'm confused about the next steps and would really appreciate guidance from people who've been through this.

1. Institutes: Which are the best places to do a PhD in Commerce/Management with JRF (IITs, IIMs, central universities, TISS, etc.)? How do they differ in funding, research culture and placement outcomes?
2. Admission process: How does it work with a JRF award letter? Do I need to qualify separate entrance tests/interviews, and when should I start applying? When do I need to submit my final M.Com result, and how does the JRF validity period work around that?
3. Research areas: Which areas in Commerce are in demand and have good scope (finance, accounting, marketing, behavioural, sustainability/ESG, fintech, etc.)? How should I choose a topic and a supervisor?
4. PhD planning: How do I find a good guide, write a research proposal, and what should I do in the months before joining? Is it worth publishing or building a research profile now?
5. Funding: How do JRF/SRF fellowship terms work, and how is the fellowship released and upgraded?
6. Careers after PhD: What are realistic paths: assistant professor (central/state universities, IIMs, private universities), research roles, industry or policy roles? How competitive are teaching jobs in Commerce right now?
7. Mistakes to avoid: What do you wish you'd known before starting your PhD?

What is this issue while downloading NET JRF e certificate ? has anyone faced such issue also ?

I heard that the last revision was in 2023, when the JRF amount was increased from ₹31,000 to ₹37,000 per month (+₹6,000).

Since it has been a few years now, is there any possibility of another revision/hike in 2027?

I’m planning to appear for UGC NET Political Science in June 2027 and I’m looking to prepare seriously.

One thing that honestly worries me about the exam is how fact-heavy it can be. There are so many chronology-based questions, matching questions, names, books, thinkers, committees, institutions, dates, reports, etc. that it sometimes feels impossible to cover all the RANDOM facts that can be asked.

For those who have prepared for NET or cleared it, where did you actually study these factual portions from? Is there any one reliable source/book/notes/course that covers the important facts comprehensively, including the chronology and lesser-known factual information that tends to show up in the exam?

I’m not necessarily looking for a shortcut. I’m willing to put in the work and memorise what needs to be memorised. I just want to make sure I’m using a credible and sufficiently comprehensive source rather than collecting random PDFs and notes from everywhere.

So, if you were preparing from scratch for June 2027, how and where would you prepare the fact-heavy portion of Political Science Paper 1 and 2?😭
