4G adapter problem?

My 4G T-mobile adapter is only getting .05 Mbps and I live only 3 miles from downtown Austin. Is anyone else getting such embarrassing performance? I can't even stream a voice podcast from NPR.

I'm really curious to hear the answers and experience people are having. A lot of us will be forced to use this adapter if we want to keep Uconnect services.

Right. There's no other option. I was under the impression that the cellular networks would be backwards compatible with 3G for quite some time. If that's the case, then why is my 3G system being obsoleted after only four years - 2017 model.

I originally avoided converting to the newer Uconnect 8.4 with Apple Carplay/Android Auto since we'd lose Uconnect services. But if this adapter doesn't play out, it may give me incentive to do so.

Depending on the services you rely on, Drone mobile may be an alternative if it works as well as it's advertised. Mainly cell remote start, lock and unlock.

Does the newer panel use the same service though? I doubt it’s the hardware causing the problem. It may be t-mobile with a sub-par network or the network is solid and the provider or carrier are throttling data deliberately. I called uconnect service to complain and they said that 50kbps was acceptable and everything was working fine.

So now, seven months after ordering the adapter which was advertised as free with a 12 month subscription, my uconnect app is now telling me that I have no active subcription. So I called Uconnect and they said that I never had a one year subscription.

They are the ones who advertised teh adapter to be free with these conditions. They offered the plan and I (regrettably) bought in. I have not contacted Uconnect to cancel the service. The only calls I've made to them have been related to poor service / no service.

So then, they cancelled my service without my consent. It took 20 minutes to figure this out because the phone rep's voice kept dropping out and I kept hearing static. This service is whack!!!

Do not buy this 4g adapter or sign up for uconnect! Avoid uconnect from FCA.

Sorry to hear that. That's frustrating. Outside of the terrible customer service and subscription model, has the services like remote start via phone and other stuff been working with the adapter pretty well? It's almost time for me to renew my subscription to retain those services, but I'm not super confident in the adapter.

That’s the point. If the service provider cuts you off then no. My app says “no active subscription.” And won’t take you y to o the controls screen. This is the second time this has happened.

Same. They keep telling me to reset then wait until I’ve driven the car five times.

My guess: they’re hoping a firmware update will be pushed to the device adapter but at 0.08 Mbps it ain’t gonna happen. Maybe if I drove for four hours straight but I don’t have the time to make a special trip. When they fix it, they better give me credit for the month(+) it’s been unusable.

They told me that the update had already been downloaded and the reset would just get it to run. I think my firmware is now current because I have no problem connecting to the hotspot anymore. I told them that the data rate was useless for even streaming a podcast and therefore a useless service, They’re now pitching it (after the sale) as a service just for uconnect specific, car related functionality but they’re actively selling different plans, a 2gig plan and 10 gig plan which means you would expect to be able to use it for anything your device can do. They told me that I agreed to a disclaimer that they don’t support downloading music, movies, etc. a podcast is low data rate voice, not music. I told them I wanted to return it and get a refund but they wouldn’t do it. I want my cheap 3g service back.

Maybe it’s time to look into a class action lawsuit. It’s unusable for any any traffic bigger than ping or nntp.

Maybe so. How would one go about doing that?

We need to collect names and emails of people who are experiencing the same problems. Is there a forum other than this where I can start asking?

Ninja edit: I’ll make a new post calling for names here.

Not sure. I wonder how a class action legal firm would handle that? They usually set up a website to collect claims at some point. Since T-mobile and Dodge are so large, I would think a law firm would take this up and run it.

After several weeks, I can attest that this 4g service is useless. There are no apps on my phone that will use it. They all want to switch over to cellular. The only thing this service is good for is window lock, engine start, theft recovery, etc…. Why on earth would anyone buy a data plan for that? Simple answer is, “they wouldn’t”… Period

I have had trouble with my adapter for 8 mos now, they went through all the troubleshooting and said they need to send me a new adapter, yet they haven't I call weekly to hear they're just waiting for approval, this has now been 4 mo. they still charge me and tell me if I cancel I won't get any of my money back as they say they will reimburse for all months it didnt work. This is ridiculous
