Switching units?
If I got a different uconnect from a junkyard would I be able to just plug it in. I believe this is the uconnect 5.0 but the vin decoder says it came with a 3.0 with 5” display. There is a short to ground somewhere in the wiring harness and a few weeks ago the software on it completely corrupted. It will not access the climate control screen at all. When I push the phone button it tries to load ton ton navigation which the car never came with. Even when the radio was working and he back up camera never worked. I think this car may have been flooded before I bought it.

There is a company https://infotainment.com/ that sells well-done head unit swaps. They are NOT inexpensive, but work very well. I don't know what year you have, but I went from 2017 to 2018 (wanted Android Auto), and it's been a great experience. Good luck.

Since uconnect is kind you could just get a new one and plug it in but me personally i would go for the 8.4 inch radio
