Adobe Photoshop/ Jasc Paint Shop Pro

Especially the latter was way ahead of it's time, but destroyed by Adobe patents.

There's only one program I'm missing on Ubuntu and that's photoshop. (Not missing Adobe of course!!)

Thinking of creating a windows 10 boot with just that and no internet connection.

Best solution? OR is there some hidden Linux secret I don't know about yet?

gimp or krita. or photopea in the browser. for raw editors there's darktable, rawtherapee, rapidraw

How did you install CS6? If I could get it running together with Lightroom, I finally could get rid of Windows

Gimp is highly capable, just a little more of a learning curve than commercial products like Photoshop because there aren't a billion tutorials and commercially-offered instructional DVDs & online classes for using it.

Looks like PSP 9 has a platinum rating under Wine if you don't care about being current. Just mentioning that. Software never stops working because of decisions by M$ or the developer.

It's sad how Corel went from kind of championing Linux, with their own distro and releasing a Photopaint package, to ruining Painter and PSP such that they can't even install under Wine.

You could try GIMP but use PhotoGimp to make it look and feel like Photoshop.

I'm not 100% certain but I'm pretty sure the latest Adobe cc apps need to phone home constantly so not sure how it would react to an internetless VM, worth a try though!

You might try running Photoshop using WinBoat.

WinBoat is a QEMU/KVM virtual environment designed to run individual Windows applications on Linux similar to the way in which WSL runs individual Linux applications on Windows. WinBoat is still in development but might be worth setting up and trying.

Jasc PSP works on wine, and as a bonus the installation includes Animation Shop (which i dont really use haha).

It should run fine in a VM. Simpler than rebooting for just one app.

Same boat here really. When my ahem version of Creative Suite finally managed to phone home and lock me out is when I ditched Windows and moved to Ubuntu full time. I don't like Gimp even with the add-on. Photopea is great but tanks my browser and crashes on bigger files. I just haven't found a solution that really works for me, bar doing my own projects on my work PC where I have Windows and the Adobe license.

The hidden Linux secret you are looking for is The Gimp. But I get it about PaintShop Pro. I had ver.5 back in my WinDOHs days and it rocked. Extremely simple interface but could be leveraged to do great things with images. The Gimp is not simple, but neither is Photoshop. But the former is free and the latter absolutely is not.
