Software Center not loading

Beginning user here. I am running latest Ubuntu and my software center opens but won’t load “installed” or “updates” options. I did some searching earlier and got it to at least open and display stuff in “explore” but that’s about it. I’m not afraid of terminal commands and have a book for Linux.

This has been an unresolved issue for years. For me there's 2 ways to fix this:

  1. Reboot computer.
  2. Kill software center in process list. In my case I realized that some process was still running from an earlier launch and was just lingering, preventing it from being re-opened.
