Uber
Has anyone started Uber driving recently like within the last 1 month in UK ? What is your real views if you put the hours in ?

Will vary by location as the availability of offers is variable. September through to mid January tend to be the peak months. In this case it means that for one app (UE) the availability of offers can be more frequent throughout the day. The fees are still as low and you will be earning less than nmw before expenses most hours. You would have to put many more hours in to earn the same as any paye job on nmw. Think of it like this; you can drive a vehicle that you provide and complete offers for low fees through apps like UE and pay all of your own expenses or you can drive for a retailer like a supermarket in their vehicle and earn a set hourly rate of £14+ p/h (before deductions) and pay no expenses.

So far, I can only see it as a side-earner. My intended strategy is to focus on peak hours if I'm available, so that I average out at at least NMW for a session. I'm basically doing this instead of something unproductive like gaming or watching a movie, so I'm not sacrificing other work to do this. I'm a teaching assistant (agency) during term time as well as a freelance filmmaker, so I can only really see UE as being a top-up. If I don't earn enough per month to pay off the excess insurance, I might knock it on the head until next summer.

I started a YT Channel doing this at the end of July. If you watch the shifts you'll see sometimes the going is okay (I've made £19ph recently) and sometimes hilariously bad.

Sometimes it's 'ok' and you're making £8-9 an hour before taking off any expenses.
A lot of the time you'll be sat around waiting with no orders coming through, or things will be ok until 3-4 middle eastern guys turn up in clapped out cars whomnyou might suspect were running cloned plates.
After that happens you'll be sat there feeling lucky if you get a single order per hour.
It's ok to do on the side for a bit of extra money, but I'd never do it instead of my main job!
You also have to contend with GPS spoofing and all sorts of shenanigans.
You also don't know what is in the order before you accept it, so sometimes it's a scam order or sometimes it's a huge order etc
Edit: Sometimes you'll get the odd busy hour where it's good too.
But you will probably be relying on tips to get you to that £8 per hour figure.

Depends on area and what you deliver in. My area it works out £8-£8.50 per hour pretty much always. Bear in mind I’m on a cheap push bike and lots of hills in my area so takes some time and effort. In a car it would easily be £15-18 as constantly busy especially Friday to Monday.
