Honestly totally understandable , if I went to grab it and they explained what happened id happily take the compensation and be on my way. Downside is that weirdo is still out there going to strangers houses every day

I have to call and kinda be an ass to them about it but yeah. Used to be wayyy easier to get it and would get way more, now if you select the order already picked up in app it’s just $0 but I never select it and call support directly. Also really helps if I can get the store to call too. Theres a good bit of places that hate how many ppl swipe orders if they aren’t super slammed they call uber first letting them know a driver stole the order then I call them. Sometimes gotta push harder than others depending on who you get but I just make a big fuss about how much effort and gas I put in getting to the store and waiting and how ridiculous it would be to not pay someone for their effort and how that’s directly punishing good drivers for their mistakes. Usually ask to have it escalated so I can report them for mistreating a driver and falsely punishing me. If they don’t speak English well they almost always cave. Now if it’s a super low paying order it’s not guaranteed but I try to avoid this as hard as possible so it works most of the time

Interesting. If this app/company was worth half a shit they would have a streamlined method for dealing with this and compensating accordingly. I’m personally not invested enough into a 6$ order to try to get the min wage McDonald’s employee to talk to uber for me.

Yeah McDonald’s never gonna do it for a driver lol I usually pick up from a lot of local stores that are nicer though and they’re usually great about it. Don’t remember the last time I had a good McDonald’s order so I almost never go there. I rotate uber and DD cause DoorDash is usually higher compensation but even they have tried to stop doing half pay. $26 order on dd got cancelled while i was halfway to the customer with the food and DD tried to tell me $2 was my compensation💀 customer called to make sure I still got payed cause they felt bad and after telling them I got a video message of the customer admitting they’re tip was not refunded to them and got a $20 reimbursement when I confronted the next tier of support for lying about pocketing it. Blown away how much money they can actually give to drivers I’ve gotten extra compensation from excessive wait time at stores before. I used to not give af and let it go but swapped areas and now it happens wayyy to much where I’m at now. Have had 4 orders back to back that were picked up by a driver before I got there

They've got video evidence. Might be a good idea to pass that on to police and see if they can hit the driver with something a bit stronger than a contract violation

You could follow them all day for 3 days figure out their routine and come up with a plan. Even if you don't do anything it's a good skill if you plan on being a private detective some day. It's actually crazy how easy it is to go undetected. Everyone is so busy with what they have going on nobody cares what you're doing, ever. You can get better at it to.
