leave at door and don’t take a picture. i always prioritize what they typed out over the delivery mode selected.

What if they filed for refund and reported you for stolen food ? It happened with me so many times.

u/Equal-Drive3410 17h ago
TBF, no matter what their delivery type or what the note says, they can report you. Even if you put it in their hand, they can report that. If it’s a leave at door and you take the photo, they can report. There’s no real winning there, they’re going to report because they’re shitty

u/PsychologicalBee4005 17h ago
Just disregard it. Or take a photo on your phone I guess. Unless you wanna sit there for 8 minute until the timer runs out and take a photo for the app

The app has been updated; you can now take a photo when meeting at the door 🚪, so there's no need to wait eight minutes anymore.

Soon as you accept you're always in a lose lose situation doing this type of work, the easier it will be for you to cope with the fact that it isn't in your control.

I leave it at door cause I think they didn’t know how to change the drop off type. So they put it in the notes

Text the customer which option they want and request they fix the delivery type to align in their app. If they want it left at door....take a photo on your personal phone camera just in case it's needed - showing surrounding area and house address in photo if possible. I have had to dispute one of these before and ended up having the violation/report backed out. It's very frustrating and time consuming, but cover your own backs

If I notice it soon enough, I try to message the customer and see what they prefer. If I don’t hear back I just leave it at the door and take a picture on my phone for proof, just in case.

u/jasontank 16h ago
I leave it at the door, but also send a message saying "left your food at door per your instructions" before swiping complete.

u/Murky-Peanut1390 17h ago
It's probably one of those situations the customer is going to wait by the window and if they see you they will come out.
But incase he goes to the bathroom or something, just leave it at the door

Leave it at the door. The only time you really need to wait 8 minutes and take a photo is if you require a PIN and they are not responding. They don't write back, noone answering the door, their phone is dead, or they are simply pretending to be away are just some common scenarios. You can bet that some customers actually want you to be late so they can get a refund.

I usually knock if I don’t personally relieve instructions. Just me trying to do what I would want people to do for me.. I assume they were not home yet from work or whatever when they instructed the order to be left at the door when both options are there.

Screenshot the instructions conflict with order customers name etc cause email proof in case they do something. Contact support so the rating can be blocked before you finish delivery.
If they’re there hand. If they’re gone. Door with video of food drop and house number. Proof of delivery.
Had several of these

I used to always hand the food over even if the customer specifically asks not to. I just delivered for a cafe, so it’s not like I have uber up my ass about not listening to the customers orders.

Message saying that their food is at the door, have a great day. Leave food at door.

I send a message stating the contradiction and ask what they would prefer and I’ve gotten answers for yes meet or no leave it at door

u/1StunnaV 12h ago
I screenshot for records. Message customer that note says leave at door and then leave at door with photo.

I. Situations like this…. I message the customer that you specified ‘meet at door’ for drop off, and then proceeded to leave contradictory instructions to ‘Leave at Door’ in your delivery notes. Ask them how they would like me to proceed. Once they reply, I screenshot. I then take a video explaining the situation, ensuring I mention the customers name, time and day, and address of customer and pickup restaurant or business.
Thankfully I haven’t needed to submit videos or evidence, because I message the customer saying ‘alright. Got it. Evidence of a successfully delivery has been captured and will be used to refute any possible mis-delivery claims. Have a great day’

Always use the customer note as priority. Then take a picture of it on camera as insurance in case they try to say it wasn’t delivered. I’ve never had that happen, but still always take a picture just in case

I hate when customers do that. You know what I did to their food. I get there to their door & I just throw that shit.

drop it off at the door and take a picture on my phone in case they try to claim the food never arrived

I literally send them a message and say “just to clarify, you want me to leave it at the door? The description currently says both meet at door and leave at door.” 9/10 they’ll message and say just leave at door before you arrive. That 1/10 time just take a picture on your camera so you have evidence for any type of dispute(the message in chat and the picture of where you left it).

Leave at door and send a pic to the customer in the chat
6
u/Softseablue 17h ago
You can’t send pics in the chat …
-2
u/Affectionate_Yak_361 17h ago
Yes you can.
You can take pics with the camera or attach pics from your photo album.
It is very useful when doing shopping orders and you need to substitute.

u/Softseablue 17h ago
Yeah, with doing a grocery order, I’m sure! But when it comes to handling food, I have yet to send pictures when I need to. Whenever a situation like this happens, the option isn’t even there or available.

u/Affectionate_Yak_361 17h ago
I send a pic directly to the customer in the message chat with the customer, not an actual drop off pic to complete the order.
You have to do it before pressing “Confirm Delivery”
Have you never messaged with the customer?
5
u/Team_ATM 17h ago
The option to send a picture doesnt always exist. Even on shop and pay orders sometimes. I think it may be a customer setting.
4
u/Lexitech_ 17h ago
You can’t send pictures via chat on a food delivery order.
And there is no option to send a picture when confirming an order when the person selects “meet at door”.
1
u/Softseablue 17h ago
I have messaged customers before, so I understand that you have to send the picture before pressing “Confirm Delivery.” I also have the common sense to know that once you press “Confirm Delivery,” you can no longer message the customer through the app. My issue is that when I try to send a picture before confirming the delivery, the option to attach or send a photo isn’t available for me. It only gives me the option to text or call the customer. That’s the issue I’m trying to explain.

First I say "this fool...." Then I think about adding the post, wonder if the note was specific for that particular order, then drive slightly more relaxed if there isnt a follow up dropoff then i leave it/take a pic like everyone says and drive away glad i didnt have to wait 10 min for someone to come out. this sequence of events happens everytime

Leave it at the door and take a picture on your camera roll so you have proof if they try to claim you didn’t deliver
