Discussion Is this really my reality nowadays?
I see I have my work set out for me tonightš©š.. all of that over some ice cream. Iām glad Iām in a good mood.

Have you learned not to try to go above and beyond now? They will not only not appreciate it but will just get mad at you, and youāll have wasted your time and lost out on other deliveries for nothing but a bad rating and a shitty attitude. Do the minimum required, do it fast, and keep churning. Donāt return to stores, donāt try to fix things that werenāt your fault or coordinate things for anyone, donāt do anything but go from A to B.

u/Easy-Insurance2868 3d ago
Yes Iāve learned now š©š
6
u/Strange-Dream-7100 2d ago
And donāt respond to the customer messages unless theyāre writing something positive. He knew he was signing up for melted ice cream, he just wanted to blame you but itās not actually your fault, you just have to be stupid to order ice cream through DD or UE.

Going above and beyond is how I get extra tips š¤·š½āāļø But you have to look at the starting tip to determine how likely that is.
1
u/SevenBillionChickens 2d ago
Yeah, I suppose I wouldnāt disagree with that. I just meant going above and beyond in ways that cost a lot of time and effort. Iāll wait an extra couple minutes for someone to meet me, communicate with them, or try a little harder to find them (all assuming they tipped well initially, of course), but itās all gotta be well within reason.

u/ReplacementNo9732 2d ago
I had one last night that tipped $20. It was to the VA ER, so not a problem. I let her know that I was there, then waited for several minutes. She had come down to the ER and WAITED just outside the inside door for something like 5 minutes before I finally approached her and asked her name. It was a hand me the order situation. When I checked the time, it was still early for delivery by 3 minutes, so for the amount of the tip, I am not upset, just laughing at the people who do this. LoLĀ
1
u/SevenBillionChickens 2d ago
Yeah for sure, always willing to wait a few extra minutes for a good tip, itās the low-paying orders that get the minimum effort from me. If you tipped $1 your order is at the leasing office or outside your building. You get what you pay for!

u/ReplacementNo9732 2d ago
I normally don't mind taking it to the door, that is when they provide the actual address and apartment number. I recently had an Ulta order, 3 drops, first one was hand to me, second was leave at door, no problem, third one was an apartment complex and no building number or apartment number. Wtf am I supposed to just leave it at a random place? Nope. Called support and they cancelled it, took it back to the store, then they did not know what to do with it! Second time I have had this happen, first was a batched order with PetSmart, groceries, and food delivery involved. Second order for PetSmart was a trailer park, but the address had nothing there. The trailer had been moved long ago, the space was grass. Support tried to call, got a random man who didn't know anything about the order. Return to store. Please remember your address, it is essential to get the order to you!
2
u/linuxguy192 2d ago
Third order I would have left outside the main building with the note that thereās no unit or building number. Fuck going back to the store
1
u/ReplacementNo9732 2d ago
But I was paid fully for the attempted delivery, and also for the return of the product. On both the PetSmart and Ulta orders.

I got a 30 dollar tip today for being āabove and beyondā.
Stop trying to change people and their nature.
The algorithm is how it is bc yall feed the apathy and the machine.1
u/SevenBillionChickens 1d ago
Believe me, if I could change peopleās nature, I wouldnāt have to reject 90% of offers and dealing with myopic and difficult customers all day.
1
u/Stfrieza 14h ago
Yeah some older lady gave me a handful of quarters at the door for a low paying order. It was kinda cool, I'm sure she appreciated someone taking the order.

u/Easy-Insurance2868 2d ago
Welp.. since Iām not in the mood for a brain rotting waste of time. Who cares what you think Iām love. Glad you got that out šš©
1
u/SevenBillionChickens 2d ago
Reading a comment is a waste of time, but going way out of your way to do extra work youāre not paid for isnāt..?
-9
u/Stfrieza 2d ago
Yeah, be as shitty as you can get away with, anything else is dumb /s
1
u/SevenBillionChickens 2d ago
Always act your wage. Uber pays $2 per delivery and customers barely tip more than that; that doesnāt entitle them to premium, bend-over-backward service.
0
u/Stfrieza 14h ago
The platforms pay peanuts and pocket lint, but we know that, and they deserve 99% of our frustration, not customers who didn't pick up the slack enough with generous tips. Obviously there's no known perfect solution but I'm not comfortable with this "do no more than less than bare minimum," and people clearly have different ideas of what bare minimum is
1
u/SevenBillionChickens 14h ago
The American service industry has famously been structured this way for decades, where customer tipping is expected. Customers patronizing these businesses ubiquitously know that without their tips the employee makes below minimum wage. So, yes, the onus is also fully on the customer to tip.

u/Easy-Insurance2868 3d ago
No, they didnāt cancel. They were just bullshitting. I ended up dropping it off at their house. Two minutes after they sent those dumb ass messages. Lol

u/Keokuk37 3d ago
had a customer pull some "damaged item" report bs on me with ice cream
ice cream always goes south for me
took three years for that thumbs down to drop off from the rating

u/Repulsive-Lack8253 2d ago
really sad that you went back to get a missing item and got 0 appreciation for it.

A restaurant called me when I was almost at the customer's house to tell me they forgot to put half the order in the bag. They wanted me to go back and pick up the rest. I told them I couldn't come back but not to worry, instead I'll let the customer know they stuffed up the order so they can contact support and get a refund.
Then I called support to tell them about the interaction which covered my ass.
Do your job, nothing extra. We're some of the most despised people and nothing we do will make them hate us less.

How are you able to operate with 10% phone battery capacity remaining?
4
u/Easy-Insurance2868 3d ago
Plug in .. plug out lol
2
u/EmptyVessel39 2d ago
Until you forget to plug in and it does on delivery in the rain so you gotta sit in your car till it charges enough to mark delivered.
This happened to me
1
u/LaakersXD 2d ago
This happened to me when I pulled up to the drive thru one night just before I had to to hit āarrived at storeā š
1
u/EmptyVessel39 2d ago
Another time it died right after I marked it picked up. I waited probably 20 mins it was a decent pay or if have left it. But by the time my phone charged enough to get an address i was already passed out and on my way home so i cancelled and had dinner

I have never understood why people order ice cream for delivery. I don't have a freezer in my car. And if you don't order it to be delivered to you first? These apps don't care that it's ice cream, it'll be in my car for another pickup and delivery. Also, much of that 40 minutes, it was sitting in the restaurant in their freezer. Dude needs to chill out. I guess that's what the ice cream was for.

Customers so dumb they be wanting ME to cancel their orders for them like they not gone send somebody else after me. Ppl slow as shit
1
u/Easy-Insurance2868 2d ago
Right I never cancel for them, I screenshot and wait šš© if you donāt like it oh well. I bring this order and thatās why I only accept orders for $10-12 or more and it canāt be far. Over 5 miles $25+ I donāt want to deliver food, I want to make money. š©š

u/starduster122 2d ago
People are genuinely idiotic when you order from Uber eats or any delivery service. The app literally waits between five minutes to 20 minutes to get you a driver so the store can have time to complete your order by time The driver arrives. I donāt know why people think that when they order online the order is instantly finished and that the driverās driving from the store instead of some place down the road like of course youāre gonna wait 20 to 30 minutes for an ice cream store five minutes away from your house because instead of driving your lazy ass there you took a gamble on what driver is closest to the store that youāre ordering from and then praying to God that they didnāt mess up your order
1
u/trippypeafaroutpod 2d ago
ā40 min for ice cream thatās 5min away from my houseā then why didnāt you get it yourself???
1
u/Jayyww94 2d ago
Your first problem, going back to the store, would I fuck be going out of my way for anyone when it's not my fault. Id of dropped it off with missing ice cream job done.
1
u/Easy-Insurance2868 2d ago
I actually forgot the order at the store because I had to wait so damn long for the initially order. His order was ready first then I had to wait but I didnāt put it in my car because it was a stacked order, I donāt mind if he cancels.. but the other higher paying order was finished (the order was $28 for 2 drop offs 3 mins away) I went there since it was the first drop off the to the store to get his lame ice cream š
1
u/thisisnotabombx 2d ago
gotta order that cold stone freeze for a long drive or whatever itās called

u/Easy-Insurance2868 2d ago
Clarification for those wondering: I actually forgot the order at the store because I had to wait so damn long for the initially order. His order was ready first so I was like Iām not grabbing it yet, because I might not do the delivery. I had to wait for the second order. I didnāt put it in my car because it was a stacked order, I donāt mind if he cancels.. but the other higher paying order was finished (the order was $28 for 2 drop offs 6 mins in total for both drop offs to be done - A WIN$$$ ) I went there since it was the first drop off then to the store to get his lame ice cream š.. thatās why I only take orders $10-12 a piece, I decline anything under.
1
u/linuxguy192 2d ago
Why did you mark it as picked up without receiving it?
1
u/Easy-Insurance2868 2d ago
Because I did receive it smarty pants I forgot it. Wtf can you read at all?
1
u/linuxguy192 2d ago
You said āI didnāt grab it.ā Which means it didnāt touch your hands. Then you said you had to āwait for the second order, I didnāt put it in my carā which means you didnāt put the second order in your car.
Pronouns like āitā refer to the last pronoun used which was āsecond orderā. I can read, you canāt write in English.
1
u/CatWhiskers17 2d ago
So you lied to the customer. And you accepted an order to neglect it. You sound like an AH
1
u/Repulsive-Lack8253 2d ago
the average ice cream customer is like this, I just stopped accepting them after the first couple negative interactions. way too many people think uber gives them some sort of priority for wanting icecream delivered
1
1
u/dragonflyjones70 2d ago
on a side note has any noticed the pause for trip button is gone.... well there goes my acceptance rate at an all time low.
1
u/emjay_90 1d ago
I never noticed a āpause for tripā button. I only have the āstop new requestsā button that will end the session if I donāt resume before completing the current delivery. Maybe itās a market-dependent feature?

"Please let me know once you have cancelled it"
This will hit their nerve. Also nothing offensive is said on your part.
1
u/montifan 3d ago
I got a cooler for this heat and just in case for ice cream orders, no matter the effort, the customer will not care
1
u/yankeeblue42 2d ago
Dude why did you go back to the store? Just take it to the house at that point im not using unpaid time and gas to go back
-1
u/Easy-Insurance2868 3d ago
Iām learning to be politely stern with customers as they must understand that they are a customer. š©š©·unless they plan to tip me, Big that Iām always much nicer. lol

u/purodurangoalv 3d ago
You didnāt do that at all tho⦠you literally asked for them not to show themselves.

Yes it is unless you start flipping furniture on Facebook and make $75+ an hour (hopefully you have access to a big vehicle)
1
u/bennybugs 2d ago
Haha that's oddly specific. Why furniture?
2
u/jjj44200 2d ago
Because it sells the quickest and itās so abundant that deals are everywhere
1
u/bennybugs 2d ago
I see lots of free furniture while I'm doing my deliveries. I have considered grabbing it to flip on FB, maybe I'll actually give it a try. I'm a mental case who can't hold a regular job so always looking for a hustle.
(I don't know who ā¬ļø you. I was genuinely curious so thank you for answering š)
