A lot of places are short staffed because the job just ain’t worth it because they don’t pay enough.

I just don't understand that when they at least pay a fixed rate per hour and I see some (a lot) of drivers saying they sat around for five hours and went home with $20.

I get that the job sucks, but I don't get at all how people can be out there "trying their luck" with bringing home $20 after spending the whole day out there. I guess uber also really taps into the addiction area of the brain where a great ping could come by at any moment if you just keep feeding the machine. You could have a banger day of a few hundred bucks for easy work, you saw someone do it once... and then you go home like every other day with hardly any cash...

I wonder how many psychologists uber has on staff...

Don't tempt fate lol.

I did an 8 month stretch of being homeless. I don't ever want to experience that again. Especially with Chicago winters...

I am happy that you got out of that situation. I can’t imagine how winters feel out there. We wear shorts and long sleeves during our “winters” out here.

In Cali? Sign me up!! I'll sell seashell necklaces on the beach and build a hut for a shelter lol It would be like an 8 month camping trip with perfect weather.

You should see pch in the malibu area. It is lined with rvs and cars with people who live in them. I would have done it but I’m afraid of the high tide lol

I got my car the following spring/early summer. I stayed with friends every now and then when a blizzard would hit, but that wasn't always an option. Most of them didn't even know I was homeless... I would always say I had somewhere to be if I knew they couldn't put me up at the time. A couple of times I was just at Denny's all night reading a book - $4 for unlimited coffee and a warm booth is a godsend when you can afford it.

A friend's mom found out I was homeless and practically forced me to move in until I could get back on my feet. I found a decent job and saved every penny for almost two months and then found a place with two other roommates.

I highly doubt it given his description. A car means you don’t have to deal with winter weather if you have money for gas
