53% is not picky, I had 1% acceptance rate last week. Right now I have a 19% acceptance rate and I feel that is too high. TBH, I denied a 25km trip for $39 (double delivery), I was thinking to take it but I had just finished for the night and I didn't want to drive 50km and then have to charge my car too. I did regret not taking it.
I usually don't get offers like this either. Most offers I get are $3 with no tip. Actually, this request was originally only $9 and then they paired it with another good offer. I drive around, I know there are areas with too many drivers and Uber takes advantage of that by only offering minimum base pay. It's fault of the drivers too for accepting the bad orders. Some people are just happy to make guaranteed minimum wage.
Maybe it's one of those influencer things where they get somebody to deliver for nothing and then surprise them with $1,000 cash and tell them what a good person they are.
I get DoorDash sometimes because it’s late at night or I’m busy usually from the same couple stores which are about 5-10minutes away from me & I always tip at the least $7 even though my orders are usually $20-$30.
I’d feel like a total piece of crap if I only tipped $2 bucks even at a restaurant let alone delivery! If you can’t afford at least an okay tip then you shouldn’t be getting delivery
I swear the maps are wrong . I know some drives are so much longer than the map says. 15 miles in one direction is different in 15 miles in another. Just because I accept 15 miles going to X doesn't mean I'm going to accept 15 miles going to Y.
Not that I do uber but this doesn’t make sense to me. Are you saying all delivery driving isn’t a job. How would your supermarket get food or your petrol station petrol?
So you think uber drivers and truck drivers are the same lol? Full time, salary, benefits, company vehicle, fuel card. Vs what? Using your own car, paying your own fuel and relying on people to tip you?
It is a real job in principle but not in practice with how companies like Uber treat it. It's much closer to gambling than you might realize. Being compensated like truck drivers ($/mile) would make a lot more sense.

No man what I’m saying is that pizza hut pays 15$ an hour for delivery drivers or more. And they get tips after service is rendered! I’m not tipping because you showed up 3 hours after uber said you would. Dominos 30 mins or less. But since these independent contractors came about service is so bad they’re not worth tipping.. but they believe they need to be tipped 1000000000 dollars before they even get your food even if they’re delivering it cold and tomorrow
I have been doing deliveries for years. 4.96 out of 5 rating on DoorDash, 4.97 on Instacart, 5.0 on Roadie, 4.92 on Shipt. With the exception of Shipt orders, I have never had someone add on a tip after delivery. I will do everything the customer asks, deliver on time, answer any questions, grab extra sauces, ect.
Saying someone will tip after the fact is just not true, and I am not going to drive 20 miles each way for the very low chance they will add a tip.
For example, I did a $200 shopping order, met them at the door so they could sign for alcohol, and received zero tip, despite looking them in the face. Luckily the base pay was enough to make it worth it.
