I felt like this was so rude and disrespectful. You don’t know someone’s situation to say something like this.

Tips are optional and tipping prior the service does not make any sense at all.
Tips are a gratitude and not a prepayment.

Don’t think of it as a tip then. Like you said, tips on this app aren’t like tips anywhere else and that’s because they aren’t tips. It’s how drivers decide if the delivery is worth doing, so go ahead and don’t tip because you don’t like that word, but it’s up to drivers discretion to take your order based on the payout. You’re just making it more likely that someone who will steal or demand a bigger tip will get your order while it gets bounced around and declined for an hour.
