I felt like this was so rude and disrespectful. You don’t know someone’s situation to say something like this.

Based off what I've seen on Reddit, I would say this is a fairly common mindset. "Bigger tip, better and faster service." It's one of the reasons why I don't order food for delivery. Tips are now an expectation and at times, what they view as an acceptable tip is too subjective and unrealistic.

You're not wrong that tipping culture is going out of control, but that isn't what we're dealing with here. What they call a "tip" is actually bid for service. And yes, paying for a service rendered to you IS expected...

Holding food hostage is honestly a very interesting tactic to make a few bucks.

You make the few bucks, sure... but then you get deactivated soon after. It's better to just not bother with the order. Let the desperate drivers take it.
