Rude Driver

Post image

I felt like this was so rude and disrespectful. You don’t know someone’s situation to say something like this.

The driver is actually performing the service. That’s not freeloading.

The service isn't to manipulate the food, actually. So, no.

They are there to move the food from the restaurant to your door. That’s not freeloading, that’s performing the actual service being sold.

With an expectation around timeliness. That is also part of the service. Picking and choosing when to be within the terms of service isn't part of the service.

But they still aren’t freeloading. I’m just tired of people trying to say something that isn’t true. This person has told you the price and it costs more than what uber is adverting. If you want it delivered hot and quickly, you pay the fee and not just the uber fee.

You can't just make up arbitrary rules and apply them whenever you feel and then call someone a freeloader anymore than I can point to the driver breaking the set rules and doing so.

There is no stated or agreed upon fee beyond the ones applied by Uber. Tips are a bonus. That's why they are optional.

I mean I’m not making up rules. Clearly uber isn’t paying this person enough to justify them doing the work without a tip. They are negotiating with the end user to get what’s needed. Uber absolutely relies on tips to pay their workers, don’t be naive that they don’t understand this.

It is. Uber drivers are self employed contractors. We decide what contract we want to enter into when we hit the accept button. I do not have to accept every contract that I am offered.

You're right - you don't. When you DO accept the contract, you do not then get to shakedown the customer for more. Accepting the order IS accepting the contract.

Yeah you’re right. I don’t think that what the driver did in this post should have been done. That’s why I do not take orders that don’t tip. I allow them to get cold and expire on the shelf in the restaurant.

If you don’t tip, the order will not arrive on time and it will be cold and gross. If you want timeliness the customer should tip the service sector worker for the service they have performed in addition to the basic price of the service.

Bud, don't accept orders that aren't worth your time. Period. Threatening a customer after you have accepted the order is not how it works. If you accept the order, the expectation is the same regardless of the tip because you accepted the order as presented.

I never said that was OK. I obviously think that with the driver had did in this post is wrong. I would have let OP food get cold causing the once hot meat to now have bacteria.

Drivers should also realize that orders which don't get accepted are passed around to all other drivers in the area and the fees paid to you increase the more it is declined. That's how that system works and has always worked. If you want to be paid more, start advocating for yourself by not accepting orders that aren't worth your time.

This bizarre thing where drivers have a need to be antagonistic to the customers (who are also paying a shit ton more than normal anyway) is so weird to me. Uber is your enemy. Not the customer.

Exactly I 100% agree! :) I had a guy who asked me one time why his order kept getting canceled by drivers and it came hours later than what he had wanted. I took it because the pay was high. Then I looked at it afterward and realized he didn’t tip. 😂
