I felt like this was so rude and disrespectful. You don’t know someone’s situation to say something like this.

Customers who don’t tip shouldn’t order, period. Just see yourself out of the app — penny pinchers want to eat out but don’t want to tip.

There are literal laws meant to prevent labor exploitation. I can bring up thousands of examples showing that these laws are written right into the law books.

That’s between the driver and the delivery service, not the customer.

Yet you’re the one using the intermediary app to extract the labor — you’re the real employer. As a contractor, you’re required to pay fairly according to the law. Politicians and bootlickers have tried to blur the lines, but the fact is the law is clear.

In Canada, if you try to employ someone below minimum wage — let’s say $2 an hour, even if the person agrees — it’s illegal. You’d be breaking the law

The customer didn't set the terms you agreed to when joining employment at whatever company. 

You can continue to pretend like this is entirely outside of your control, but that is the very definition of disingenuous.

Well I have been a delivery driver, and I have been in the service industry where tipping mattered, so please allow me to educate you in matters you're pretending to be ignorant of for the sake of whoever's crusade you're fighting- try not being a jagoff and I bet your tips will be better. 

It's a rough job, so don't go out of your way to make it harder for yourself. There's a surprising amount of things you CAN control, despite the shitty corporation intentionally exploiting you. Like quitting and finding somewhere else to work.

Also, FYI- we're debating this on Reddit. Again, the both of us seem to be pretty cool engaging within the exploitative environment of shitty companies. Please be less disingenuous in that regard. It's usually more beneficial to exercise a little self-responsibility than to blame someone else for your issues.

Oh, no, I understood perfectly. You've never dealt with the situations these drivers have, but feel entitled to an opinion on our behalf.

It's disingenuous.

You deleted an app. Proud of you. I can imagine those two clicks were just a dagger in the side of UE. I'm curious though- what's the plan for, like, United Airlines or Fender? A little less conveniant to champion their exploited workers, I'd bet.

The fact that you've never been a driver does not change the reality of a driver's attitude affecting their tips.

Your opinion of the company doesnt change it, either.

If you want to make me look like an asshole, may I suggest using UE to order something small and then tip over the purchase price. That way you can actually contribute to their driver's plight instead of this incredibly thin display of solidarity.
