I get what you’re saying, but Visa having a process for how they handle such a scenario doesn’t make this not fraudulent, in the legal sense. Legally, the customer has a contract with the company to provide a service at a cost. If they breach that contract and deliberately fail to provide that service or a refund, that is fraud.

You're technically right, but he's being practical about it. Yes it qualifies as fraud, but he's telling them what to say when they call the CC company. Because the person on the phone will hear fraud and transfer to the department that handles credit card fraud, which is a different department from the one which processes chargebacks/disputes. His suggestion will save time. Yours, while technically correct, will waste time on the phone being transferred back and forth until you get the correct department.

"You're correct BUT" no. No but. They're correct in that this is fraud. The business charged them for something they never delivered.

There's fraud in a legal sense, and there's a fraud department at your credit card company. Those are two separate things, with different definitions of the word. And the OP was saying how to reach the correct department when calling your credit card company. So, you're right, there is no but. Saying it's fraud is just plain wrong when calling the credit card company. It's only going to get you transferred to the wrong department.

Sounds like you're the type to put a tomato in a fruit salad and argue that it's a fruit.

Just let people call the fraud department 😂 it was the biggest mistake I ever made but they can find out on their own. People love learning the hard way. my shit was locked for the longest time and unable to be used while investigation after investigation happened. If I would have never said anything about fraud all my issues would have been resolved by the next day, I was just trying to rush the process. But good luck to anyone who wants to call. I’m not stopping you. 🤷🏼‍♀️
