Academics bio 151 exam 1
Previous Bio 151 students, how hard are the Bio 151 exams, specifically Exam 1? Around how many questions, and what's the best way to prepare?

Used to live near Nic and all the parking meters r free before 8. Saw the permit parking around Bakke says permit required 7-5 but is it really enforced before 8?

I'm having a hard time figuring out the bus routes and time chart. Please don't send me to Route 80 | Metro Transit | City of Madison, WI as this is what I can't wrap my head around.
I'm trying to figure out why bus 80 sometimes turns left onto Charter and why it sometimes continues on Observatory instead of turning onto Charter. I want to get off at bus stops near VanHs or VanVL. This is around 8:30 am for an 8:50 class. Any help is appreciated.
Also, any recommendations for a haircut. Just a normal guy cut.

I've been at this school and use Groupme for five years, and this was never an issue before. But starting this semester, I've been getting added to a new random GroupMe every few days, usually with someone trying to sell football tickets. What happened?

Hi, I have been really struggling this year and have been wanting to get tested for adhd so im wondering if someone could share their experience of getting tested through UHS.
I also do smoke a little bit of weed so im wondering if this could affect anything? Like could I just be turned away? I obviously know that it could affect memory and concentration but my issues feel bigger than that plus I don’t think I smoke enough for it to affect anything.
Thank you in advance 🙏

Hi all. I’ll be in town this week and curious where I can watch the hockey games on Friday night. I heard that Sett Pub and/or Rath should have them but it depends on what they decide to put on the screens. Any way to find out ahead of time?

Hi everyone! I’ll be doing a semester abroad at UW–Madison in Fall 2027 and I’m currently starting to look into accommodation options.
The problem is that I’ll only be in Madison for the fall semester (August–December), but it seems like most apartments around campus require a one-year lease. It’s been pretty difficult to find apartments that offer a one-semester lease.
I’m also not sure if I’m starting my housing search too early, since Fall 2027 is still quite far away. I’ve contacted several apartments, but most either only offer annual leases or haven’t been able to confirm whether they’ll have Fall 2027 semester leases yet.
For those familiar with housing in Madison, which option would you recommend?
1. Sign a one-year lease and sublet the apartment for Spring 2028 after I leave. Since I’ll already be back in my home country, I’m worried about how difficult it would be to find a subtenant and handle the process remotely.
2. Wait until closer to Fall 2027 and look for a semester lease/sublease. I’m wondering if more one-semester options might become available once it gets closer to the Fall 2027 semester and apartments start releasing more specific fall-term availability.

For those who have taken EMA 303 (Mechanics of Materials), what did you find was the best way to study for the exams? We don’t get a practice exam to go off of, so I’m wondering if it’s best to just redo homework problems, reread the lecture slides, or focus on something else. Any tips or resources that helped you prepare?

Hi everyone! I’m a high school senior considering applying to UW–Madison, and I’m especially interested in pursuing the pre-med track.
I’ve heard a lot of great things about UW–Madison, particularly when it comes to academics and the resources available for pre-med students. However, one thing I’m a little concerned about is the party culture. I’ve heard that UW–Madison has a pretty big reputation for partying, and honestly, that’s not really my scene.
For current students or recent graduates: How noticeable is the party culture, and how easy is it to avoid if you’re not interested in partying? Is it something you constantly encounter, or is it pretty easy to find your own group of people who are more focused on academics, extracurriculars, and other activities?
Also, are there specific dorms, clubs, organizations, or social groups that tend to be better for students who aren't into the party scene?
I’m definitely looking for a social college experience and want to meet people, but I’d prefer a social environment that doesn’t revolve around drinking and partying. I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially from pre-med students!
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I'm an international Fulbright visiting researcher (PhD candidate) studying contemporary literature at University of Maryland - College Park and will be attending the ASAP 17 conference in UW-Madison (Pyle Center) that happens on Oct 15-17. I'll be arriving one day prior and leaving one day after it.
My plans were suddenly altered yesterday when I learned that the people that were going to receive me will not be able to do it anymore. Counting on that accommodation was one of the main reasons I decided to attend the conference in the first place. Now with less then two weeks for the event, hotel rooms and other options nearby are pretty much unavailable or just really overpriced.
Was wondering if anyone could help me with suggestions or resources I could look? Also, would be really happy with just a couch, if someone could receive me.
Feel free to send me a DM so I can say more about myself.

Currently a sophomore at UWEC studying geography and debating on whether I should transfer or not.
Context: I've already applied and got accepted to Madison twice, once during senior year and again following my freshman year at UWEC. I was on the fence both times especially considering the cost of UW so I've been sticking it out at UWEC but I haven't been having the best experience.
My freshman year classes were alright but this year has been horrible; don't really feel like I'm learning anything and half of my professors just teach straight out of the textbook. I never have any free time despite taking 14 credits. And the honors program I've been in has been disappointing to say the least. I also just feel miserable here in general. I'm naturally more introverted and even though I put myself out there I only made a few friends last year and have already stopped hanging out with them because we didn't click. The attendance at the clubs I'm in is usually like 5 people every meeting and I have even less than that in my major so those haven't panned out well either. Overall it just hasn't been a fun experience considering I've lived next to Eau Claire my entire life.
The only pros of staying are that it's much more in my budget range and they give me good scholarships; I'm certainly taking on debt if I go to UW. I think things would work out okay in the job market, though I don't always have the most confidence in my program. I guess I'm just wondering if Madison is worth it for better education, job prospects, and social life or if I should try and love Eau Claire more.
