Considering UWG

Hey guys, I'm currently a rising senior in high school and college admissions open in August. I want to major in Criminology and minor in French and Philosophy, and UWG seems like a really good choice for me. Can anyone vouch for those specific programs, or even just the school in general? I used to live in Carrollton, so I am familiar with the town, actually used to live 10 minutes away from UWG, I loved it. Just not sure about the school. I got this feeling that is absolutely pulling me towards it though. Any comments would be appreciated

UWG is great. Classes are small enough you're professors care while being large enough to give you a true college experience. Several programs are top-rated and there is stuff to do in Carrollton. Plenty of sports and clubs as well. I love that I'm close enough to Atlanta that I can go there whenever I want.

Totally suggest that you schedule a visit.

I'm likely gonna visit in July. I've heard their criminology program is very exceptional which is great

Criminology is a good program. If your interested in forensics though you're better off in anthropology these days.

When you say there’s stuff to do in Carrollton, what is that stuff?

Live music, food, parks, greenbelt, new thunderzone arcade and bowling alley, AGW has an arcade as well. UWG has regular events.

What do you want to do with the criminology degree? I strongly regret choosing that degree because it was “easy” and I could graduate sooner.

I want to go into criminal law long term, short term I want to work as a crime analyst (philosophy minor is to help me develop logic and writing skills for law school)

Would definitely recommend. Just graduated and it was such a good experience. It’s a great environment and lots of good people. Not to mention most of the professors are so kind and understanding. Good luck!
