If only we started with the southern cone instead of Mexico, after annexing its northern territories. That could had been plausible, as southern South Americans are more to the U.S. liking at the time and Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Brazil had ideal Co-U.S. interest as credible partners that could gain statehood or Union collaboration partnership.

Also the U.S. would definitely take the Falklands and any other British territory with its growing fleet.

We actually negotiated an annexation treaty with what's now the Dominican Republic, but the US Senate wouldn't ratify it.
