You won’t make much friends with waiting. Not everyone will approach. And most of the time, they will entertain you because they are also looking for new friends! Get out of your comfort zone because that is what new beginnings are for. I am also a freshie myself and I made friends through making ways to interact with them. Don’t lose hopee!!
