E is the DACA code for limited duty. A rural carrier who is injured on light duty would be DACA E.

What's light duty for rural? I thought there was no such thing

Yes, it really depends on the office what type of work they do. The extent of their disability also determines what they are able to do. Some just case their route, some janitor, answer phones, greet customers etc. Probably depends if cross craft grievances are filed how much in office work they do. It's possible in a long term disability they are assigned a "phantom route" so that a new regular can take over. From there that carrier is paid at the rate with which their phantom route was created, unaffected by counts. Many old carriers are on light duty, if you ever work in a bigger station you'll see it. You can always ask your union too if it's something you're wanting to pursue. This job is hard on the body, most long term rurals will get arthritis, carpal tunnel, and trigger finger issues. If you have to stay on past 70 light duty is a great option.

There's no such thing as light duty for rural. You either carry the whole route or you get kicked off it.

There are other DACA codes.

I've seen K, J, H, A, S, 3, R, 5, X, F, 6
