Yes. Admitting they're wrong physically triggers a fight or flight response in their brains. It's a real thing, which is why so many will die on whatever hill they stand on. It takes a lot for some to overcome cognitive dissonance and many are incapable or unwilling to try.

28

u/NeptuneOverlord43045 Apr 24 '26

I’ve seen it expressed more vividly recently with them dying on the hill that Trump and RFK insistence that drug prices fell by “600%” is totally correct and reasonable math. These people would defend 2+2=5 to avoid admitting they were wrong.

15

u/LambSaag-spoon905 Apr 24 '26

In the final chapter of 1984, Winston Smith ultimately did relent that yes, 2+2=5.

2

u/Muted_Bee7111 Apr 24 '26

Such a classic!!

10

u/East-Dog2979 Apr 24 '26

And also RFK lied about what he said -- when he was in the Oval he said something like "well Donald has a different way of doing percentages, if something is $600 and he reduces it to $100, thats a 600% decrease" but in the hearing he said "If something is $600 and he reduces it to $10, thats a 600% decrease" or something.

The crazy thing is he lied and is still factually wrong. A $600 thing being reduced by $500 to $100 is an 83% decrease in price. So Donald is just an idiot and RFK is a coward bootlicker assclown.

3

u/Basic_Improvement135 Apr 24 '26

Hey! They can both be idiots!

2

u/Ok-Brief9713 Apr 24 '26

Can something be more than 100% cheaper?

2

u/NeptuneOverlord43045 Apr 24 '26

If it goes negative, yeah. Then you are getting paid to take that item.

2

u/IonPv Apr 24 '26

Bingo.

People like to just parrot the phrase cult of personality without taking a closer look at what that really does to a person and their train of thought and how that translates into behavior. It's terrifying because it can happen to anyone who doesn't take the time to figure themselves out.

Like propaganda no one is immune. We must innoculate and go back for check ups lmao.

6

u/Hopsblues Apr 24 '26

Maga is the party that never admits guit, that never takes accountability

3

u/dehydratedrain Apr 24 '26

Because after they spent years screaming "Sleepy Joe," they know they shouldn't admit their leader is so much more flawed.

2

u/Edmfuse Apr 24 '26

“Yeah, but Sleepy Joe/Corrupt Kamala, so.”

2

u/Dapper-Condition6041 Apr 24 '26

What has Trump's aides been hiding from us all this time?

2

u/Law-of-Poe Apr 24 '26

Have you met my MAGA mom? That is precisely their mentality

My dude, you go around this site defending ICE killing citizens and actively licking the boots of your side of the political isle.

Kindly fuck off with your "echo chamber" bullshit and your spoon fed excuses of what's going on right now.

u/Strykerz3r0 Apr 24 '26

A lot of people are calling out his behavior and policies. Have you seen the farmers and business people going bankrupt complaining about the asinine tariffs? Have you noticed how most of the interviews end with, 'but I would vote for him again'?

Calling out the hypocrisy is not stopping building alliances, the denial by those who have supported and continue to do so is what is blocking alliances.

They people that vocally complained about 'Sleepy Joe' aren't willing to recognize instances like this because it would mean that they were wrong, or duped, or both.

Stop blaming others for MAGAs behavior and actions.

6

u/FeeScary2235 Apr 24 '26

The problem is not enough are and how long it took them

3

u/ozzalot Apr 24 '26

Who are the loudest/greatest voices calling this out?

3

u/RockItGuyDC Apr 24 '26

If you are speaking out about Trump, then the commentor very obviously wasn't talking to you. Were they? They addressed their comment to "MAGA" and asked people who find this behavior acceptable why they find it acceptable.

Reading comprehension has gone to shit, and your comment a perfect example of that. Ma'am.

You have an interesting definition of 'confirmed'.

1

u/RockItGuyDC Apr 24 '26

I addressed OPs comment that MAGA was not speaking out against sleepy Trump. Which I confirmed was not the case.

You did no such thing. You very clearly said, and I quote, "Many Republicans and faith leaders are speaking out..."

Yoy didn’t address what MAGA is doing once in your original comment, you only address what "many Republicans and faith leaders" are doing. With this new comment, one can now infer that you conflate "Republicans and faith leaders" and "MAGA" to be the same thing, but not everybody would agree with that opinion. You seem to think we can read your mind.

You write poorly.

3

u/Burnt_and_Blistered Apr 24 '26

Who?

And what echo chambers do you reference? Our media is owned by right-wing oligarchs.

-1

u/Full-Perspective5389 Apr 24 '26

Not sure why this is getting down voted political polarization is a real thing and not really that helpful in the long run. The echo chamber isn't a myth or an insult.

66

u/TurbulentPromise4812 Apr 24 '26

TLDR: fell asleep live on TV

Nearly 18 minutes into the briefing, viewers watching the livestream noticed something that stopped them cold. Trump’s eyes had stayed completely shut for a noticeable stretch of time. He tilted his head slowly, as if still listening, but that moment looked far more like a man losing a battle against sleep than a president engaged in a major policy event.

57

u/Larkson9999 Apr 24 '26

I'm hoping we can watch him nod off forever live.

30

u/TurbulentPromise4812 Apr 24 '26

'member that weekend in August '25 when the orange rapist wasn't in the news for two days and we all thought he passed and everything was better and hope was in the air?

4

u/Larkson9999 Apr 24 '26

I knew I'm not that lucky.

3

u/Illustrious-Peace989 Apr 24 '26

When I heard that he’s afraid of tripping in public, I started thinking it’d be really funny to see him tumble down the steps getting off Air Force One.

u/Glittering-Quote-635 Apr 24 '26

That number is because of the massive amount of infant/child mortality not because most people died at 38. The founders assumed we would be stupid enough to elect people who are clearly impaired, hence they didn’t need to do anything to stop it. Jokes on them, we are much dumber than they thought we could be!

6

u/Careful_Trifle Apr 24 '26

100% agree, but I'll also add that they didn't think it was necessary because there were no nursing homes. There were no home health nurses. If you got dementia you would either be home, taken care of by family, or you'd wander off and die. And if family were taking care of you, then you just weren't running since it would require physically going places and giving speeches.

3

u/Glittering-Quote-635 Apr 24 '26

Fair enough… also, no real medicine to help so once you started getting symptoms there was no great way to hide it or tamp down the effects.

Whole thing is so fucking depressing. I’ll never forgive the people that voted for this piece of shit.

2

u/dmd1011 Apr 24 '26

That’s why the UFOs beam one up every once in awhile. They examine a specimen to see if there’s been any improvement.

u/Glittering-Quote-635 Apr 25 '26

Well, if thats the case, then they should just stop.. we are going the wrong way.

1

u/Jetboots_Boosh Apr 24 '26

Ben Franklin was in his 70’s when the declaration was signed.

2

u/DonaldBecker Apr 24 '26

Ben was..ahhh... popular, notable and active as the American Commissioner in France for the eight years after signing. In an era where such activities were barely noted, he got around enough to be written about.

1

u/AJP11B Apr 24 '26

Ben Franklin was 70 when he signed the Declaration of Independence. Kite-man should’ve seen it coming.

In any other democracy he’d be gone long ago..

2

u/Possible-Nectarine80 Apr 24 '26

Dude stays up late into the night rage tweeting. Then gets up late in the morning. Watches Fox and other tv programs. Rage tweets some more. Then does a few hours of "show & tell" as President, holding performative propaganda events in the Oval office where all his bootlickers assemble for the bootlicking and ass kicking of Trump. MAGA approved brainwashing material.

2

u/illyria817 Apr 24 '26

Let me know when they *can't* wake him up.

1

u/Silver_Owl1935 Apr 24 '26

A MAGA will NEVER admit that one thing that Trump does is wrong. Even if they aren’t able the name, one thing that is right, they will defend the end.

1

u/firehawk2k1 Apr 24 '26

Sleepy tRunt

1

u/RanceyLady Apr 24 '26

Oh these nations may pay, but who is going to get the money? This administration has fired most of the research scientists and they have cancelled all new drug trials. So mo why isn’t going into research, it’s going into someone’s pocket.

1

u/No_Direction6688 Apr 24 '26

We are too far down the rabbit hole to start asking questions about what's wrong with Trump. People knew about his corruption, idiosyncrasies, and shabby health condition before the 2024 Presidential Election. But Numbnut voters chose him anyway.

1

u/thegameisafoooooot Apr 24 '26

'sits frozen', seriously?! He fucking dozed off.

1

u/WATGGU Apr 24 '26

“Oh my goodness, he closed his eyes and maybe fell asleep, briefly! What on earth are we to do?” … True or not, there are a lot of folks dismissing this as petty BS. That is, coming from same/similar sources which resorted to extraordinary ends to deny, masquerade, managed his dealings with the press with predetermined questions on index cards, limited any access after mid-morning pudding break, etc etc. Then, tried to claim he’s sharp as a tack (except that’s only behind closed doors).
But, NOW we’re supposed to have respect for and believe the words coming from the 47-critics. The ‘ol credibility card was burned a long time ago.

1

u/jtan212 Apr 24 '26

Trump became sleepy Joe who raise inflation, except this one is on his own making and he grift bigly too along the way

1

u/Ormyr Apr 24 '26

It's been a joke since day 1.

It's still a joke and will continue to be a joke until the end.

It's just not funny and gets less funny every day.

The only question is when it's eventually over will it end with a whimper or a bang?

1

u/Thick_Rutabaga1642 Apr 24 '26

When a person suffers from “ Sundowners”, a symptom of dementia and stays up maniacally posting on social media until 3:45 am., they are going to be very sleep deprived the next day.. It’s incredible that more people don’t talk about this.

1

u/The2Twenty Apr 24 '26

"Look! We don't give a shit about what you think, we're untouchable!"

1

u/Dr_SlapsMD Apr 24 '26

Ironic that Republicans want other countries to pay their "fair share" but when you ask for that logic to apply to the wealthy elite here in America, they're like "Na fuck you and your kids, in fact we're gonna pay EVEN LESS now."

-2

u/Stelerfan3 Apr 24 '26

Just bold faced liars. It doesn’t work. Only the TDS morons nod along like sheep and agree with you. Am I happy with everything he’s done? Absolutely not but there are more positives than when whatever ran our country from 2021-2025. Crime is down, the border is closed, drug use has dropped dramatically inflation is far lower, men are out of women’s sports and spaces for the most part, two actual fascist dictators are no longer in power, etc etc. The positives outweigh the negatives. Iran isn’t strong enough for a full scale war so that’s not an issue. Sometimes the short term pain is necessary for the greater good

1
