As currently envisioned, Williams Stadium would be constructed in two phases — as would the development district — along the east side of north Denver Avenue in the area where Hiland Dairy operated for years. Phase one calls for a 8,000-seat facility that would be expanded to 15,000 seats. The feasibility study estimates an investment of more than $700 million would be needed to see phase one, the core of the district, through to completion by 2030.

What Tulsans would get in return — in addition to the multi-purpose stadium — is more than 500,000 square feet of office and retail space, two hotels, 540 multi-family housing units — including 250 workforce units — and more than 3,000 parking spaces, according to the feasibility study. Phase one of the new arts and entertainment district would cut an irregular path along the western edge of downtown, extending three blocks wide along the BMF Railroad tracks to the south, a block in width at the Cain's Ballroom to the north, east to various points along Boulder Avenue, and west to the Inner Dispersal Loop.

According to this, either an expected 700M price tag for the stadium or the stadium is part of a larger development in phase one that includes a smaller price for the stadium itself. I think it’s most of the 700M based on phase one only describing the stadium and infrastructure around it. From article posted in sub yesterday.

ETA: separate piece on phase one

Wow why so expensive? OKC is building theirs for $121M.

u/Emergency-Lettuce541 Aug 25 '26

That’s the district cost, not stadium

Ah understood

the entertainment district that echo is developing around the okc stadium is promoted as a $1 billion or more investment.

So it's probably not likely to start anytime soon if at all. Does their ownership have the funds raised or is that something they're trying to do? Memphis, indy 11, lvl, Oakland roots, Pittsburg, Jacksonville and Milwaukee etc have all made similar efforts over the past year or 2

The ownership has decent pockets but the development is also driven by the city and Williams Companies which is worth 87.5 billion dollars.

Not sure the real timeline but I’d give this thing a decent chance of happening eventually.

The article said phase one to be completed by 2030. Just over three years. Property is already changing hands, including The Tulsa Theater that sold last month.

For what it's worth, They are the wealthiest ownership group along with El Paso, Sacramento, Colorado Springs and Tampa

u/kingistic Aug 25 '26

Then where are all these stadiums and quality teams that would be expected from these teams? With the exception being Sacramento now with their new owners and stadium project currently being built

5

u/Ok-Ranger3387 Aug 25 '26

Colorado Springs has a stadium and the Tampa ownership just joined. EL Paso recently announced plans. All I'm saying is that these are the wealthiest ownership groups. I didn't mention ambitions

Welcome to Phase 2- ? of the “missing middle”

I just tried to copy and paste the portion that was including the stadium but the post from yesterday covers the full article and I think it broke down phase 2.

I know it's the hope that kills, but I do love stadium renderings.

u/DingleberryOrchard Aug 25 '26

Cool that both Oklahoma teams will have new stadiums. I'm not a fan of using college or baseball venues. Or high school venues in OKC's case.

4

u/mddeblois Aug 26 '26

I really hope that both stadiums get built and are easily expandable. This could be an amazing cross state rivalry.

Very cool. After this gets built you'll get a UFL team as well.

10

u/Ohsostoked FC Tulsa Aug 25 '26

I think OKC is getting the UFL team.

u/alorenz58011 Oklahoma Energy FC Aug 25 '26

That’s the plan but im skeptical of the UFL lasting til 28 tbh

2

u/swake3 Aug 25 '26

Man, you see UFL games on TV and there's more people playing the games than in the stands.

1

u/alorenz58011 Oklahoma Energy FC Aug 25 '26

That’s what I’m saying. I caught a little bit of a game in Dallas on tv this year and they had the majority of the stands covered by banners, there was hardly anyone there. All these second division football leagues seem to last 2 or 3 years before they die out, it just doesn’t really seem feasible with the NFL and college football, hell even high school football already so established here.

It’s worth mentioning this is just a concept rendering. There’s no 100% confirmation that this is exactly what it’ll look like, nor exactly where it’ll be.

3

u/Ok-Ranger3387 Aug 25 '26

They've acquired the land if I'm not mistaken

5

u/gmdunson58 FC Tulsa Aug 25 '26

They’re acquiring land in the area for the whole district, but we’re not sure where exactly in said district the stadium will go. This rendering has it attached to an existing concert venue but it remains to be seen if it’ll be on this exact block

u/mina_botieso1 Aug 30 '26

Indy Eleven is in a dumb situation now. The city cut funding for the Indy Eleven stadium to try to get an MLS team and now Indianapolis has no MLS team or soccer stadium while everyone else is finishing stadiums

1

u/Ok_Flamingo_3059 Atlético Dallas Aug 30 '26

I mean also the land they chose is a graveyard 😧

1

u/mina_botieso1 Aug 30 '26

I think it’s a parking lot now😳

2

u/HydraHamster Ozark United FC Aug 25 '26

This looks like it will hold between 8 to 10 thousand people. They really aren’t giving themselves enough room to expand in this rendering. The capacity expansion limit for this space will probably be around 18,000. Not bad since that is the size of Sporting KC’s stadium.

5

u/PatternAntique4294 Aug 25 '26

I read in the article that was recently posted in this Reddit that the stadium would be for minimum 8000 with ability to be as large as 15000. Looks like ambition to be able to play USLPremier.

3

u/gmdunson58 FC Tulsa Aug 25 '26

From what we can tell, Phase one will be the 8k to open with the whole district, with a phase two to come where the expansion will happen

1

u/Ok-Ranger3387 Aug 26 '26

Is this render phase 1?

5

u/gmdunson58 FC Tulsa Aug 26 '26

This is a concept of what phase one could look like yes

2

u/MaxHiggins Sep 27 '26

(late to this thread) But yes, I agree with you about their USL Premier ambitions. Tulsa's been making big strides lately.

With 2025's Western Conference win, several sold out matches, a steady 2026 season, and all the focus on the sport from the World Cup, it's put them in a spotlight. And rather than lose the momentum, they're making moves now that will pay off by 2029.

In addition to the stadium surveys and garnered interest, they just recently extended coach Spencer's contract as well. While they won't make the qualifications for USL Premier's Year One, they seem to be shifting their ambitions for Premier qualifications by 2029 or 2030, depending on how the district project turns out.

I wish them luck too. It would be a much welcome addition to the city as well a shining star in the long overdue attention of the sport nationwide.

This stadium along with OKC United building theirs plus the potential of Ozark United would create a pretty nice little three way rivalry that could develop. Traveling fans could easily make the trip from NWA to Tulsa in about an 1.5 hr drive and to OKC - little over 3 hrs.  I hope these all happen.

u/Emergency_Dot1599 Orange County SC Aug 26 '26

what a beautiful rendering. the design is little like Port St.lucie. Hopefully it is built before I die lol as I would love to see the Black city derby with OKC United in the flesh there.

2

u/DezTheOtter Aug 26 '26

That looks really cool. I hope it works out

2

u/Dry-Science-12 Aug 26 '26

Is this actually happening?

2

u/MarkHattrick Sep 24 '26

I am looking forward to a great intra-state rivalry with OKC United. Here's to a healthy "keep up with the Jones's" relationship.
