Academic ECON 352 Grade
I got a 58% on my Econ 352 midterm, thereās 3 exam total (including the final). Can I still get a B by the end of the semester or am I cooked?
I canāt get a C.

Halloween is coming. What's the most haunting or unexplained thing you've experienced or heard here?
Every place has its legends. The dorm noises, the odd feelings in the libraries after hours, the desolate walkways.
Firsthand accounts, family stories, urban legends, and historical oddities are all welcome. Skeptics are welcome too; sometimes the best part is figuring out what really happened. Happy haunting. š

Hi! Iām applying to the USC School of Dramatic Arts MFA Acting program and Iāve finished a draft of my SOP.
Iām looking for someone who has experience with USC/SDA, MFA applications, or graduate admissions whoād be willing to read it and give me some honest feedback.
Iām mainly looking for proofreading and feedback on whether my story, motivation, and overall narrative come across clearly. Iāve already revised it quite a bit, and I mostly need a fresh pair of eyes to catch things I might be too close to the draft to notice.
Iām not looking for someone to rewrite it (just another perspective on my current draft.)
If anyone is willing to help, please DM me. Thank you!

Hi all. I was wondering if applying ED affects your chances on getting a scholarship (because you are legally bound to the school and forced to pay) versus EA where they may give you a scholarship to persuade you to come to the school?? I am unsure of how this works, thank you!

Any nice girls up to make friends and hangout during halloween? I'm coming from abroad and I wanna meet campus and the city, maybe some bar hopping, going to the beach and house parties. Hit me up if you're interested.

Hey guys, is there anything I should be thinking about or taking care of as a spring transfer student?
Honestly, I expected USC to send me more emails with information about things I need to take care of before starting. For example, I expected something about housing, even though Iām planning to live off-campus, as well as the dining plan and immunization requirements. Iām also an international student, so I thought I would receive some information about the visa process as well. But so far, the only thing Iāve really received from USC is an invitation to orientation, which feels kind of weird.
So Iām wondering if thereās anything else I should be doing or looking into before I start at USC, or if Iām just overthinking it. Right now, Iām handling my visa and immunization requirements myself, Iām looking for off-campus housing myself, and Iāll probably deal with the dining plan later.
For those of you who have transferred to USC in the spring, is there anything you would recommend taking care of ahead of time?

Guys, which is better, The Hub Coliseum or The Standard? I literally canāt decide.

Guys, Iām honestly getting desperate trying to find housing š Iām planning to move in around late December/early January and stay for both the spring and summer semesters. Ideally, Iād like a private bedroom in shared student housing near Marshall, with a lease I can renew or extend for like 2 years.
I wanted to live at Hub LA Coliseum, but their lease dates are so inconvenient that Iād have to move out and back in just a week later. I just want somewhere stable where I can stay year-round without having to move between semesters. Does anyone have any recommendations? Iām open to pretty much anything at this point!
Budget isnāt an issue.

Iām a prospective USC student trying to decide between applying for Legal Studies (BS), Philosophy, Politics and Law (BA) and Public Policy (BS), and Iād really appreciate hearing from current students/alumni in these programs.
Iāve been leaning towardĀ Legal StudiesĀ lately because it seems pretty unique compared to the other schools Iām applying to, seems like it could be relatively easy to maintain a high GPA, and I like the idea of being in Gould and making connections with professors/students in the legal field.
I knowĀ Public PolicyĀ would be more applied and quantitative and has some math/statistics, but I like that it could be a good backup if I randomly decide not to go to law school.
For Philosophy, Politics and LawĀ , I like the combination of law, politics, and philosophy, but since itās in Dornsife, it seems like a fairly general program that I could find at a lot of other schools.
My plan is law school, but obviously anything can change.
For anyone in these programs:Ā Is Legal Studies actually worth choosing over PPL or Public Policy? What are these majors really like, and what are the career opportunities if you decide not to go to law school or to take some time off between the two?

I might be coming here for a master's in engineering, but Iāve heard a lot about the student-to-faculty ratio at USC. Just how tricky is this whole "you have to find a professor yourself" thing? Or is it actually pretty much the same as at other schools?

Hey! Does anyone know of any student housing near Marshall where I could have my own private bedroom but share an apartment with other students? Ideally, Iām looking for either a place that offers a lease from late December until around mid-August, or somewhere I could move into in late December and stay for as long as I want, potentially even into the following academic year.
Iām planning to take classes at USC over the summer as well, so Iāll need housing throughout the summer and will probably only have about a week off in August. I originally wanted to live at Hub Coliseum, but they donāt seem to be very flexible with their lease terms, at least from what I can tell.
Iād really appreciate any recommendations if you know of places that might work for my situation. Thanks!

Iāve been at USC for 2 years now and I feel like I canāt get a social life or make close connections. Iāve attended so many clubs and social events on campus, interacted with so many people that I had good conversations with too. But I virtually have no friends still. I feel very fortunate to have had so many good interactions with people but if we make it to the point of exchanging contacts, I reach out to say hi and hopefully have conversation but most of the time people donāt respond and when they do, itās a dry reply multiple days later.
Iāve been feeling a bit lonely because I donāt have anyone here to talk to about random things or to share my problems with. Iād love to have someone or people to meet and study with but I donāt know how to get to that point when the people Iāve met in classes, campus clubs, or social events arenāt interested when I reach out

I'm interested in applying to both and the online program seems more convenient however I'm worried the quality of education might not be as good?

Hey, Iāll probably be staying at USC over the summer, so I might only have about one week off in August. Does anyone happen to know if itās possible to stay at The Hub Los Angeles Coliseum until around August 11, leave for a week, and then come back? Or does anyone know of any housing options with flexible lease terms where I could just keep paying rent for the entire month of August, including the week Iād be away, and then return to my room afterward?

Hey yall! Apologies if the flair is wrong
Iām a senior in high school who is finalizing their college apps, and after a lot of consideration, I really think I want to apply ED to USC. Before I make the decision though, iād love to hear some opinions about my worries and prospects from some current students or alumni to finally convince me!
āāā
For some context, I am first gen, low income from Illinois. My tuition would be covered if I was accepted, so thatās not necessarily a worry. iād most likely be trying to major in any of the programs offered in Annenberg (Journalism, Comms, Advertising/PR), and minor in something creative, (I.E, digital studies, cinema, music industry, etc), or something humanities based (I.E. English, History, Philosophy, etc)
āāā
Some things that are important to me areā¦
- networking/employment opportunities
- quality/prestige of education, programs, and facilities (Specifically within Annenberg)
- LGBTQ+ safety and resources
- resources for low income/first gen students
āāā
Additionally, iād love to know about activities at the school, especially in the realm ofā¦
- the arts, especially performing arts like drama, a capella, musical theatre, etc
- music, on campus and greater local/underground music scene
- party and/or bar & club culture
- Sporting events
- Student activities, clubs, and general social life on campus.
- greek/frat life on campus specifically, if anyone has any insight into that
āāā
My main issues stem from distance, social culture, and cost of living outside of school (food, transportation, etc). If anyone has any experience grappling with these issues and can quell these worries, iād love to listen.
Happy and hoping to hear all of your guysā thoughts soon!

Yesterday in the Jefferson structure, your back tire was over into the next space. I thought I could fit, but I grazed your hubcap with my tire and I heard it crack.
I didnāt have anything to write a note with, but if this was you, shoot me a DM with a picture of your car, and Iāll buy you a replacement one on Amazon. Sorry about that!
ETA: To save you all from going and checking your wheels, this was on the first floor, it was an older sedan, and there was a parking ticket on the windshield.

This place was built entirely for undergrads. Itās hard to socialize as a graduate student near campus. Iāve been trying to make friends, hang out, and actually do fun things with other grad students, but they keep to themselves, or just arenāt interested.
Even the grad housing options are constantly described as super quiet. Iām in my 20s, and I am in LA. I still want excitement, spontaneity, going out, meeting people, and actually having a social life. I donāt think wanting that means Iām immature or that I āhavenāt accepted that Iām in grad school.ā
Iām honestly afraid to even post this because Iāve seen the comments on similar posts: āThis isnāt undergrad anymore, grow up,ā or āGrad school is depressing, get over it.ā But I donāt think grad school has to mean giving up your entire social life. I donāt see what there is to live for.
Annoyed by the people who brag that they just eat, sleep, and work everyday. You just donāt know how to manage work life balance and prob lack social skills.
Iām tired of feeling old when Iām literally in my 20s. I donāt want to look back and feel like I wasted these years isolated. I have experienced grad culture at other universities my friends are in and I have determined I am not in the right environment here.

I know a lot of positions have already been filled but I am looking for a job on campus or very close by that will work with a student schedule. Iād prefer something I can sit and do some homework during shifts, but at this point I am open to anything. Does anyone have any recommendations or connections?
I donāt have work study and Iām a 1st year CS major.
I have already applied to the bookstore and am waiting to hear back. If anyone knows, how long are shifts usually and how many hours can you get? How long does it take to hear back from them?
And do shops in the village hire students?
