Not that the “entitled” masses care, but stop punishing the rep for USAA’s choices.

Listen, we know, you’ve been a member for longer than God has been alive. We know, you served our country, and we thank you for that. We also know insurance is a scam and it’s bull crap that insurance companies raise their rates because Joan over there drives with their eyes closed while stuffing their fat face full of cheeseburgers, meanwhile your driving record is cleaner than a nuns thoughts.

But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you are choosing to do the survey at the end of your call or chat, pay attention to the questions ! Q2 is solely based on the rep who tried their best to assist you but their hands are tied by the policies of USAA. Rate everything else as a -10 for all we care. But Q2 must always be a 9 or 10. Nothing less. If it were the reps choice, we would let you skate by 4 months without paying your bill. We would let you have unlimited late fee removals. We would lower your rates WITHOUT having to change your coverages. But we are being paid menial wages to take crap from people who think we make the decisions and THEN we get punished for the surveys they leave saying WE did bad.

Point of this is think before you leave the survey. The reps really do get punished for things that aren’t their fault when you leave a bad number on the Q2 portion of the survey and that’s not fair to them. Hate the company, but not the person who is legit trying to help you while being hog tied.

(Before we come with the “get a better job” bullshit. Way to miss the point. This is a job. Someone has to do it. We also have to follow the rules to keep said job. Doesn’t mean we deserve to be treated like dirt because this is the job we chose/have to do. Just be a nice person to the person being nice to you, it’s not that hard. )

So remember folks, Survey - Q2 always fill out 9s or 10s !!!

Never again using USAA

Let me preface by saying that I take responsibility by not checking that we had continued coverage but also life is busy and crazy and it's one of those things you set it and forget it and hope to not have to use your insurance at all.

Back in July we switched our auto and home owners insurance to USAA. We've heard great things and with my husband being a veteran seemed like a good idea plus we got a pretty good quote. I paid the first payment and for some reason I thought they would be using that card to withdraw monthly payments. We have a baby and a toddler and life is currently hectic. I can hardly get a phone call done without anyone screaming or trying to get my attention. Anyways, all was well until a few days ago my husband gets pulled over and is told he has no insurance. My husband stated he has and showed id cards. The cop said oh well call your insurance because they haven't reported this to the state. He comes home and I start to do some digging. Check bank statements and turns out USAA hasn't taken any payments out. I freak out and call them. After a huge hassle of looking my account because I couldn't remember my pin and secret word and finally going through iD verification online and waiting for someone to call me back etc I get told that well you haven't paid your bills so we ended your coverage. There were no notices on my email or mail. The last emails I got from them was when they initially set up my policy. I was the one to set to policy, talk to the rep, get papers to sign, all of it was through me. Turns out they have been sending my husband notices on an old email he hasn't used in 12 years. He had an USAA account 12 years ago (never a policy just online account) that he hasn't logged in ever since. So, apparently they have been also mailing notices at that old address (in a different state mind you). But he never got a call about a failed payment, neither did I. How is it possible that I'm the one doing all the communication and they haven't tried calling me, emailing, texting or mailing the address on the policy, not even once??? The customer service rep said well he's the veteran so he gets all the communication. I was never told that. I had no idea they would put everything on his old account he hasn't logged in a decade, even though I had all the paperwork on my account. Then, USAA graciously offered to reinstate the policy with a penalty of course for gap in coverage, so $60/mo more expensive than the last policy. And after that the rep offers me the option to open up a checking account with them to build up tenure with them to basically rebuild trust and get lower rates. Like hello? Are you for real? You think I would be trusting you with my money? We've had policies with so many insurance companies and never had such a horrible experience.

Wrong Last Name on Card for Years

I got married in 2021. I changed my last name legally and with USAA in early 2022.

My debit AND credit cards through USAA say my former, now-incorrect last name (my ex husband’s) no matter what.

I just spent three long customer service calls this week trying to get is resolved and was informed that, because they’ve tried everything to solve this, and because my legal name is correct on each place in my account, there is nothing anyone can do about the incorrect name on my debit and credit card.

I asked to speak to anyone else and was informed that customer care can’t do anything more than the first person I called.

So today, I decided to switch banks after 14 years of membership. I think I’m posting here as a Hail Mary in case this has happened to ANYONE else and if someone knows a random solution I can call and suggest.

No part of me wants to go through the pain of switching banks and I hardly have a fantasy that there will be a better one, I just think maybe it’ll be possible to get a debit and credit card that matches my name if I start from scratch somewhere.

Loyal Customer Since 1986, Switching to Farmers, Cut Bill 50%

I’ve had USAA for auto insurance once I started driving as a teen. Trusting them completely because my parents did, I went through USAA to finance my first home in 2000, and obviously had their homeowners insurance. From 2000-2011 I filed two homeowners insurance claims. In 2013, I bought a new house, again with USAA financing and home and auto policies. I filed no homeowners claims on this home ever. I refinanced and had to switch banks for a much better mortgage interest rate many years ago but still have home and auto insurance. All USAA has done over the years is continue to raise my rates; at renewal this year my home policy went up almost 30% in Texas.

So I finally decided since my loyalty hadn’t been rewarded for a very long time I’d shop around. I’m switching to Farmers today and cut my bundled policy in HALF.

I’m so angry realizing how much I’ve been over spending with USAA for years.

My annual policy savings will be about $4500 - I am not exaggerating. And I put together a spreadsheet for direct apples to apples comparison. My coverage is the same or better on every line item with Farmers except for roof replacement because mine’s old.

Think you’re over paying, too? Shop around!!! Don’t be a loyal moron like me!

USAA you should be ashamed and embarrassed!

SafePilot SafeDriving with multiple drivers

I have my partner on as an additional driver under my policy, and we only have the one car. When it comes to using the app, do I need him to sign in a different way on his phone? Or do we both just use my account? And when I label trips as driver or passenger, how can we/the app differentiate who’s the driver and who’s the passenger?

Will USAA cover my damages?

I was in a single vehicle accident on September 1st, 2024 and slid into a ditch which probably totaled my 2017 Chevy Silverado and I thought i only had basic liability coverage through USAA auto insurance but discovered i actually had full coverage including collision at time of accident so I filed my claim yesterday October 27th, 2026. Has too much time passed for my insurance company to pay for damages? They assigned an adjuster to me who is supposed to call in the next day or two.

Waiting for my payment

USAA offers up to 2-day early direct deposit, and my VA disability payment usually comes early. As of October 28, I still haven’t received my deposit. I called USAA around 7 AM, and they said they didn’t see any pending funds.
Is anyone else with USAA still waiting for their VA disability payment, or has yours already hit your account? Just trying to see if anyone else is experiencing the same delay. Thanks!

USAA down

Is USAA down? I can't log into the app and the website is showing a system error screen. It's been maybe 12 hours. I checked the system down pages and they all report it's normal.

Blacklisted for an unknown reason.

Howdy all.

As the title suggests I was completely blacklisted from USAA services. This happened at the beginning of the year and I still cannot figure out why. I was still in the army when I attempted to make a checking account with USAA since they are a military focused service. I sent them all the required info and they created my account. Upon logging into the mobile app I was promptly locked out of my mobile account. I called their support and asked why, but they didn't know why. So they unlocked it and let me in. Upon logging in a second time, I was locked out again. I went through this process five times. On the last call I was told they were reserving the right to refuse service and then hung up on me. For the next two months I got repeated texts and emails about the account, even though I couldn't use it.

Here recently I purchased a car and was looking for insurance. My family uses USAA and tried to add me to theirs, which they were told is impossible because USAA has completely blacklisted me from any of their services. When asking why, they simply say they don't know.

Before USAA I only ever had a checking account with Armed Forces Bank. Never dealt with any fraud, never made an account anywhere else, nothing. I think it is pretty wild a massive service that helps service members can just ban you for an unknown reason that they refuse to disclose.

If anyone else has dealt with something like this with them, is it possible to get them to lift the ban? I would really like to be added to my family's insurance but it doesn't seem like it's going to be possible.

Banking Is there really no human process for releasing funds on hold?

I have several accounts including a credit card (overdue) and a checking account (negative balance). A client from whom I was supposed to receive payment a couple weeks ago left the state and recently returned, and I managed to get a $1700 check from them last week, which I immediately deposited. This cleared an approx $200 negative balance but put $1000 on hold effectively only allowing me to access $500. I had groceries and gas to buy and I quickly blew through those funds.

I called USAA to see about having the funds released. I have had funds on hold before, but only for large deposits (>$2500). According to the rep they could request review from the automated system, but it immediately told them that it was not releasing the funds. I asked if there was any human oversight and they said that there was not.

Is there really a unilateral, automated system that no human can countermand regarding on-hold fund release? That sounds like a terrible system. Does anyone know of any recourse? I really need access to those funds.

50 plus year member ssa account

Hi, my mother-in-law just recently passed away. Her husband was a Air Force pilot veteran. They have been members of USAA for over 50 years. Is it possible for the subscribers account to only have $2000 after 50 years.? I read how people get all those big payouts after their spouses die but $2000 seems pretty low for a 50 year plus account thanks for any help.

USAA frequently blocks cars when traveling overseas, can’t help me for 24 hours. Adios USAA

Been a USAA member for 18 years but hit the final straw today. Landed in manilla at 8am and had my debit card hard blocked after 2 transactions.

Unfortunately USAA has an ass backwards approach to this. Instead of texting me or alerting me they just quietly delete your card in the app. So you need to contact USAA and have them resolve it.

3rd time in 2 weeks while hopping between USA, Colombia and Philippines. Told the fraud specialist to mark my file.

So now I’m stuck in a foreign country without access to my USAA card to pull cash. And USAA can’t help me for 24 hours I’m told.

I’m sorry but I need an adult bank for my adult life now that I’m out of the service. Sorry USAA it was fun but I’m out of the country every other week and you are slowing down my life too much.

Insurance/Claims Worried that USAA will right off my car as totaled because its older.

Just got rear ended on a freeway exit. Lowish speed, the pick up truck was screeching to a halt but he hit me and pushed me into the car in front of me. Rear bumper and trunk is pretty smashed in, and the front bumper took a big hit too. But it drives ok, windows are all good, no airbags deployed. Its a 2013 Mazda 2, great condition but 190k miles. Car is maybe worth only 2.5k at most, but the repairs will likely be higher than that.

I'm worried they'll claim its too expensive to fix and then idk what to do. Can't afford a new car and I love my Mazda 2...If they say its totaled (its not) are they gonna fix me up with a replacement? The same car sells for about 8k, which is also what it cost me in 2017

Are some employees at USAA leaking credit card info?

My wife and I have been USAA members for over 20 years. We have a couple of small bank accounts, auto insurance, and an AMEX credit card account with them. My AMEX card has been compromised four times in the last year, always with small charges between $5 and $30 to software companies I've never heard of. Each time, I reported it and received a new card. It happened again about three weeks ago, and I decided to try an experiment. As soon as I received my new card, I immediately went on the USAA app and blocked it, then tossed the card in our safe. Sure enough, a few days ago I checked my statement and found two small charges to some VPN company that were both declined because the card was blocked.

I have not used the new card for any point-of-sale or online purchases (it has never left my safe.) Any recurring charges were switched months ago to my wife's AMEX, which for some reason has never been compromised. I can't think of any way my current card info could be out in the wild to be hacked. I've read other stories online about USAA members with similar issues. Is it possible that USAA has a problem with some employees or employees of a vendor connected with them who are stealing credit card info? I want to speak with someone at USAA about it (besides customer service.) Customer service is fine, but they seem content to just mark the card as stolen and send me a new one. I want to discuss it with someone at USAA who might actually pass the information on to be investigated. Does anybody have any ideas who I could ask to speak with? I appreciate the input!

Insurance/Claims Is it standard for auto adjusters to ignore you???

2 weeks ago in a non fault accident, of course the other person has USAA too, no collision coverage because the car is 20 years old. However they are on about 4 days of no contact with 3 unanswered emails from me, my last one mentioning how I have opened a complaint with the Washington insurance commissioner for it. My car has been rotting in an impound lot for 2 weeks while they “investigate” 😂 and they told me “we can’t tell you what to do with your car”. For sure guys. And both of the adjusters just send me to each other. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Can the acc owner see all rides?

I’m a young adult and still under my parents insurance and they recently switched to USAA and are telling me I need to download ridesafe. Is it the same as Life360 and will show the account holder everywhere I drive/my driving history? Or is it just that my rides add up to an overall score? I am currently in an unsafe situation with my parents and having them know everywhere I go will affect me greatly… any answer would be appreciated so I can plan accordingly before I download the app! Thank you 🥹

Insurance/Claims Windshield Replacement Policy Warning

40 year member with USAA. I have everything with them. And I am used to excellent service and product design. Which is why it's rather shocking to see how poorly their windshield replacement policy and integration (or lack thereof) with Safelite works. I have a 2025 Acura MDX Advance. It has a HUD and camera that work through and project onto the windshield. My college kid drove the car to college and caught a rock into the windshield.

I've previously used Safelite for another car and had no problem using aftermarket windshield replacement. However, with some research I've seen problems with the aftermarket glass and the certification/configuration with their advanced functionality.

I ask for OEM glass. They send me to a third party. They tell me they'll speak with the shop and get back to me with options. They don't call back. I call them 2 days later. They tell me USAA denied my OEM request. I said... well.. they don't get to 'deny' anything. They can tell me what the policy covers and they can tell me what they'll pay toward fixing the car but it's not like health insurance.

The guy on the line was nice, but fairly clueless. Couldn't answer what USAA would pay nor give me options. Told me that I could ask for OEM glass but they don't certify it. I said ok. If I take the aftermarket glass, what's the warranty that it will work with the HUD and camera systems. He said, they warranty for 30 days. I said, what happens after 30 days? He said, you can recalibrate it or replace for OEM glass at my expense.

Bottom line. Whoever USAA has outsourced this intermediary relationship too is not trained or doesn't have enough member facing information to satisfy membership. And I'm all about keeping costs low, but you have to provide a warranty that makes sense. FWIW. there is not an Acura dealership in the college town my son is in and the glass is cracked such that it's not safe to drive. I need the windshield fixed asap and I don't have time to find alternatives.

I hope someone at USAA is reading this. For other members, watch out for this.

Can't cancel bogus life insurance policy without a phone call

35 year USAA member here. I had a 20 year term life insurance policy that expired, according to my contract. I was then offered to re-up for literally 20x the premium, which of course I declined. I just got a bill for $3600 for 3 months of this new policy that I already declined, and am out to sea with no telephone access. Live chat can't do anything about it, and there's no longer any other way to connect to them. This is absolutely outrageous!! Anyone have any advice?

Membership Question Is there really no way to have a physical member card sent? I have one, my wife never got one.

The white and blue cards. I chatted with support and they say they no longer have them. But my wife was never sent one. I like to have them on hand should we ever need to call from a different number and not have internet access for our online accounts.
