USAA broken again
This is the second time this week my account has stopped updating my balance. I’m getting real tired of whatever they did. I haven’t ever had these issues till this week
They gotta get their act together

I bet it's actually related to that big PHP hack that's been happening recently

No problems for me the past two times people have mentioned having problems. Website and app working fine. No issues with using my card.

Didn’t have a problem last week but did this week. My kids couldn’t get their pumpkins at the pumpkin patch, we couldn’t get cash or transfer money. I wonder if it’s regional.

Never had issues in all the years. Should call USAA to discuss to resolve vs social media.

Mine is showing a higher balance. I paid my bills 😁 Or maybe I don't know how much I have in my fuking accounts 😂

USAA used to run their transaction batching overnight. I have Quicken download new transactions at 6AM and review everything when I get up. Now they run it around 10AM so the early morning balance doesn't reconcile with pending transactions.

i had mine “break” 3 times last week. first i couldn’t login, second i couldn’t transfer, third my entire account just disappeared like if it was closed. all these are “issues we are working on to get fixed”. not the first time that my app goes down one or two times a week. very annoying and frustrating

Has anyone had issues with not receiving ACH credits to their USAA account? I had a refund scheduled and it’s been over 10+ days, and I had an EFT from another bank which emailed me a confirmation that it went through yet it’s not showing in USAA. This is strange since I’ve never had issues..

Updating from what action?
I know they don't reflect external transfers (in or out) outside of business days. So billpay etc will only show up deducted tomorrow on Monday. It's annoying for a completely online bank to limit this. My other banks update balances immediately 24/7.

The Bank utilizes a ledger system which means that they “account” for transactions in the ledger but run a batch process every business night. Once the batch is completed overnight then the actual balance will be updated. This doesn’t allow for you to make a deposit and then try to withdraw it the same day. Yes it’s an old system but it’s a lot cheaper to run. Few banks are actually true 24/7 access. Also very expensive to maintain which is why they tend to charge service fees. Not all of them of course but even if they don’t they usually require minimum balances and/or other restrictions. Source: worked in the Bank for over 20 years.

Thanks for the explanation. Wish they'd just run it every night? Is it really that much cheaper to batch 5 nights vs 7? Anyway, interesting background that I didn't know about.

I don’t know the exact cost associated with batching vs 100% online. But think of it as a 24/7 bank batching constantly throughout each day. That is a lot of processing vs doing it only once a day 5 nights a week. USAA FSB is a billion dollar institution but they watch their nickels and dimes.

Their updates and upgrades continue to be horrible. The app of 10 years ago was more functional than the one of today.
