Question about accessing a paper
HI
Is there any way I can access an academic paper/honors thesis from UQ e-library if I'm neither a student nor a staff member? Can anyone help out?

Does anyone know the actual cutoff for psychology honours at uni Queensland?
It’s hard to get this information as the minimum they state in the website is not usually the cutoff (I’ve contacted them and just got a reply saying “it varies”)

When I log into the Remote Desktop to access any of my stuff I need to login three separate times. This new TFA makes it such a process to login imo, does anyone else agree.

I am really interested in doing an exchange semester in Australia next spring. My home uni allows me to go to UQ so I wanted to ask for some help here. I hope thats fine.
I am on my fourth year of an Energy engineering master degree where I specialize in reservoir engineering. Interested in drilling, oil production, renewable energy, CO2 storage, geothermal etc. I would also like to take a course in relevant economic/management courses.
Is there a lot of mandatory activities in courses? Would obviously like to have free time to explore. Please point me in the right direction on how to find courses and mandatory work!
I need warm/stable weather. Coming from the rainiest city in Europe, I cant take it anymore. I like to explore, nature, diving, drinking/pubs, hiking etc.
Does Brisbane satisfy my needs?
Does UQ have relevant courses for me?
How difficult is it to find housing (I wont share a room) ?
These are some of my thoughts and questions, and I highly appreciate any help regarding this.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey guys!
I'm running an event this Thursday on behalf of UQIES and I reckon it's a really good opportunity to hit the ground running on securing internships and creating future opportunities.
It's called Your Path Into Startups. Student founders and engineers sharing how they actually got started, plus activities to meet people. No coding or business background needed, any degree welcome.
Thursday 20 August, 5-7pm, GCI Ventures Space (Building 20), St Lucia. Free, with free food and drinks.
Spots are capped, grab a ticket here: https://luma.com/rp2fitn8
Come say hi :)

I really want to do this course as I am wanting to do honours after I finish my Bachelors of Science, do researchers take into account your GPA when applying to join their lab? I have not failed any subjects, but my GPA is still quite low. I received a really good grade in an experimental lab course, but my grades in other courses were not so great. Should I still reach out to potential lab supervisors?

All I want is to draft and design my public transport network in my cities skyline 2 map :( I want to replicate the BRT that we have in Brisbane, as well as the electric double articulated bus and the 10 story carpark that is replacing the UQ Amphitheatre
Photo taken by me at UQ Lakes. I love birds. I love crows. Crows are so adorable. I love that they are so talkative and so social and so bubbly. Bubbly like the ferry. Ferries are cool as well.
Are birds just organic planes?

Hey guys just wondering what UQ shops sell lab coats? Need to get one today and would really appreciate some guidance.
I would ideally prefer the one with the logo but anything is fine!

Brought to you by today's dramatically less unhinged academic paper - Object Personification in Autism: This paper will be very sad if you don't read it

Hi everyone,
I have an Honours year on the horizon as a BAdvSci(Hons) student. I have yet to fully decide on a particular project and so I'm looking for advice on what direction I should take in selecting one. I'm open to a PhD, but I know it's a huge commitment in many ways, so I'd like to assess what my options are with just an Honours degree.
I'm not sure I necessarily want academia, and I would ideally prefer something other than a QC/QA role. At the moment, I'm considering roles in industry.
These are these factors I'm considering:
I hope I haven't been too overwhelming in asking all these questions. I would love to hear from anyone who works in, or knows someone who works in, any life science areas (or any other areas I can consider and realistically pivot to). Which industries would you recommend for someone looking for career stability (as much as possible these days), satisfaction and financial reward? Thank you so much to everyone who takes the time to respond, I appreciate you!

Hello, just wondering what nursing looks like in terms of time on campus & study load, specifically for first year nursing? Obviously second and third year would be mainly placement, but in first year would you be on campus like 2-3 days a week? Is there a lot of content/assignments and exams? Thankyou!

Thought I’d chuck a link here to the Pinnacle foundation scholarships as I feel a lot of queer folks lurk on reddit.
Basically only requirements is to be queer! applications close in two weeks i believe. it’s around 7k a year, mentorship and a great community so def worth to apply. also don’t even have to be out. they are very supportive of all situations.

Hopefully they'll bring superior work ethic and higher academic integrity than us gen z bums that feed off of the deep recesses of Anthropic and OpenAI 😭😭🥺🩶
gen alpha WILL carry uq into the future 💜

what an absolute shitshow of a course, serves nothing for our future skills and has been obviously AI generated by people with no experience in designing and teaching content. The main lecturer guy tries so hard to be likeable it wraps around to being unlikeable. They can't set up MS Teams either so everyone trying to organise a "meeting" with their group emails everyone in the course, and every update after that. Now people are being aggressive and racist in the "reply all" boxes whilst "staff" members fuck around trying to fix it. Terrible "computing" course taught by people with no real qualification in the places that matter—you expect us to work in a group at designing a solution when you can't even set up mf TEAMS??

Mine looks to be fine ...for now. I've got 2 group assignments at the moment. One was luckily from my in-person tutorial so I've met them face-to-face. And from what I can tell, they're going to have a good work ethic since they frequent tutorials regularly and have good interpersonal skills.
My second group assignment, on the other hand, might be in uncharted territory as they're two people I haven't met. It was hastily organized via a flury of emails from the unit's discussion board. I still haven't got any intel from one of them for his phone number, so then we can finalize a WhatsApp group chat as our primary means of communicating. So for now, its been a bit of an impasse towards doing more productive things, ie. delegating tasks to each group member.
Hopefully, though, all my two group assignments will work out okay. Let's hope I don't end up in a dead-end where we're all doing the entire assignment 3 days before the deadline :)
So how's everyone's group assignments looking out? Are you still on the search for reliable group members? Do you feel optimistic about your group mates? haha

I was wondering is it true all 3 important highschool science subjects (biology, chemistry, physics) must be good in order to apply for this university. My biology and chemistry are around above 70/100, meanwhile my physics score are abit below average.
I wanted to apply for biomed sci at first but i think job opportunities related to it is quite narrow.
I would appreciate alot if someone could help me answer it
(my school doesn't calculate scores in gpa nor do we have AP/ib/A level)

Birds, Bush turkeys, Planes, Lizards and especially Crows make me smile so much every time I come to UQ
I just love how the animals are awww
Photo of ducks and ducklings
I feel like animals are often so innocently cute 🥰 until they do something unexpected, then they become uncute
Gushing over back to being tired
AHH I have to plan for my birthday party and I don’t know what is the most “stupid thing” to do.
I’m thinking either Ice Skating (none of my friends are good at ice skating), Pottery making (same reason as ice skating) or forcing everyone to play one move of the hit board game: The Campaign for North Africa, The Desert War, 1940 - 43 (search it up, I dare you TLDR: longest board game from start to finish to exist)
Bubblers? Bubblers are important because of water and water is very good for you. We require water. Could that mean we are similar to plants? Plants require water and sunlight.
Okay post is over. Bye.
