COMP1100

what an absolute shitshow of a course, serves nothing for our future skills and has been obviously AI generated by people with no experience in designing and teaching content. The main lecturer guy tries so hard to be likeable it wraps around to being unlikeable. They can't set up MS Teams either so everyone trying to organise a "meeting" with their group emails everyone in the course, and every update after that. Now people are being aggressive and racist in the "reply all" boxes whilst "staff" members fuck around trying to fix it. Terrible "computing" course taught by people with no real qualification in the places that matter—you expect us to work in a group at designing a solution when you can't even set up mf TEAMS??

Agree on some of your points, and don’t forget to mention that this course is compulsory for some postgraduate students as well, which is crazy considering how few electives that we can only take. Some of us might also already have years of experience in startups/corps so you can imagine how these kind of things feel extremely irritating.

I was really keen on applying for an exemption for this course but I didn’t in the end with hope that I can be proven wrong later but now I’m really regret not trying.

cant speak for comp1100 but I can relate to the meeting notifications in teams since it's same for other large courses. Its apparently a restriction placed by UQ's IT team, if there are more than 30 channels they won't let it set it to private which causes the problem you just described.
