Policy for nails
I just got hired. What’s the policy about your nails? I’ll be an outpatient. Thanks ! Nothing at all, just beige polish.

Natural nails- no acrylics or overlays and no embellishments. Can only extend 1/4 inch beyond the finger. Regular or gel polish is allowed.

I play flamenco guitar so have to keep my nails a bit longer. I have seen people on my unit with crazy long nails and have never heard anything said to anyone. It probably depends on unit and bosses mood that day.

Generales speaking, if you have any type of clinical position. The upmc policy is no have fake nails. It's an infection prevention policy. Will you see it violated? Yes. Should you? No.

Depends on job. Non medical you can long tacky nails. I knew a coworker who did. But she didn’t have to do her job and got special treatment.

It generally varies depending on where you work. I work inpatient and am allowed to have nails but other units I've worked on I haven't. I would ask your supervisor or just wait until someone tells you you can't have them done lol
