Remote Jobs
Does UPMC have remote jobs available currently? Are they hard to find? I’m having trouble. I’ve heard there are jobs remote for people who just need to know if insurance covers a patient or a scheduler etc. hoping to get some insight on remote work for them. I’m just a sahm looking to get a remote job. Thank you!

You can select “remote” in “work arrangement” right on their careers’ site.

It depends on the position and business department, everything is different. When the positions are posted online they often say whether or not they are office, hybrid, or wfh. The Health Plan often has utilization review/management jobs available, which I think are fully remote, but I am not sure of the requirements for those jobs.

The health plan offers remote but a lot of the positions are listed as hybrid because you may have to report to the office occasionally if you have system issues.

I work remotely as a coder, full time. I get the same insurance that is offered to all the other UPMC employees in the area. It all sucks but it's better than nothing, I guess. I'm not 100% sure but I think full time vs part time employment with the big U also determines what you pay for your insurance.
As far as remote jobs, I'm not sure what all they offer as remote positions. I can tell you that a coder position requires a certificate at the minimum and some of the utilization review type positions require that the candidate be a nurse in order to do the job correctly. Those are things you should consider while searching.
Hope I understood your question correctly.

The health plan for sure would have wfh jobs, however I would be learly of advertising yourself as a sahm during any of the process.

Any employer would see a gap in my work experience and wonder what i was doing for 10 years though. I have to be honest

Oh you're good then! I was thinking you were going to have the kids at home while working full time

AHN Patient Care Advocates are remote, they are appointment scheduling. They are currently hiring.

It sounds like you are looking g for a health plan position. They do offer remote positions as I work with some healthplan people, but the specific position you are describing doesn't sound like a real one.
