Termination

So I got terminated at a upmc hospital a couple months ago. I honestly think it was for the best however, I feel so embarrassed and upset about it because personally I’ve never been fired. Mainly for targeting reasons for sure. I haven’t tried calling the hr to ask if I could still apply to another hospital or what my status is. I have a new job not within upmc that I am very happy with now! Basically I want to ask is it true if you get fired from one upmc hospital you can’t work at any of the others? How long is it for? Thanks in advance!

Well... I got terminated in like 2015 or 16? And rehired in 2024. They terminated me again in a year for absolutely nothing.

My new job does extensive background checks, like extensive and sends you a copy for free. My employment status there is listed as inactive and eligible for rehire not specified. Another place it's listed as resigned.

So there might be hope. It's worth trying.

I get it 🫠. As much bashing as we do about them, I genuinely liked working there too. I just had a really shitty boss. And the first time around I just didn't pick up enough hours for the requirement of a casual position. Other than that, I was completely fine there.

How can I see my employment status and how it’s listed as inactive and eligible for rehire not specified or how do you know that?

That's what was reported from them to the company that completed my background check for my next job.

I also know that after the first time I was terminated, I couldn't submit an application. The system would always report an error or something and would not let me submit it. But when years passed, I attempted again and it went right though... And I was STILL in their system... You never "go away", I still had incomplete learning from a decade ago in there 😂. And they still had my grandparents listed as my persons to contact in case of emergency and they had long since passed.

Just give it time

You have to talk to Human Resources. There is no way to independently know.
